Since the wife and I recently went on vacation, we won't be making the trip from the piney woods down to san antonio for the game. Instead, I'll be cooking and drinking beer at home. I've come down to three options: pork butt, pork ribs, or brisket...and lots of beer. What will y'all be cookin for the game?

And THAT is why I am an inexperienced smoker. Because Robert is plenty good at it.

At my son's request, a big batch of green chili from the last of my Hatch chile reserves to go along with some gifted homemade tamales.

2 racks of baby backs
1 chicken (currently brining)
1 boston butt, aka pork shoulder
1 cabbage

starting the ribs and boston butt at 9:00 - s/b ready by 3:00. chicken goes on at noon or so.

the cabbage will be cored, and butter inserted. i'll wrap it in aluminum foil and throw it on the smoker early. I am experimenting w/ a recipe i read in Legends of Texas Barbecue.

this'll be the first time I've smoked at the new house. looking forward to it.

Some baby back ribs, brisket, and the wife is cooking some queso. Combine that with some Shiner Bock, potato salad, and beans, and we're ready to go.
