What were the opinions of Iron Man?

Maybe it was because my expectations were too high, but I found it extremely disappointing. I thought it was very predictable & the love story made me want to puke. Seriously, were we supposed to care about his love life?? "Oh, remember that night we danced?"

I couldn't wait for it to end.

Apparently everybody liked it except you...recalled a pretty favorable opinions when the movie came out in theater.

So you actually saw it & liked it?

I realize it got all kinds of great reviews. I'm asking for what people on here who actually saw the movie thought. If I'm the only idiot who didn't see the greatness in it, I can deal with that.

Finally saw it last night, it was good but not great. Strangest part for me was that I kept waiting for the cool guitar riff and BS music to get rolling once he started kicking butt...only to have to wait for the very end...maybe my love for that music tainted the experience...

The earlier poster was right, Dark Knight set the bar so high it's tough to do a "great" comic book character movie. At least it didn't trash the canon completely and did a nice job of introducing a character some folks might not have been familiar with.

On a scale of 10, I'd give an 8...it was kind of over-hyped but everything is these days...

I didn't really buy the whole "Oh no, my weapons are being used for evil and I had no ******* clue" bit, but other than that and The Dude hamming it up a little I enjoyed it.

My reply appears much harsher than I meant it to. Yeah, saw it in the theater and really enjoyed it. Story isn't as dramatic nor as trying as Dark Knight. However, the acting by the leads were very good and the SFX was spectacular in my opinion. Your complaints about the movie didn't really register with me at all.

I was very pleasantly surprised.

Surprised because it is the first comic book movie I'd seen that I didn't want to ask for my money back. That includes the latest Bat Man movie, though Ledger was very good.

I loved it. I did not see it in the theatre but I did buy it on blu ray and I have watched it several times.

It held pretty close to the comics and I thought the graphics and storyline were good.

I wish there was more fighting in it, but this was the first and it had to show how everything got started.

Did any of you wait until the end of the credits and see the scene with Samuel L Jackson?

I really liked the parallel redemption storylines of Tony Stark and Robert Downey. Sure, Stark should have been aware that his weapons were also being used by terrorists. But he was so engrossed in his self-indulgences that he really didn't care....until he had his "road to Damascus" experience.

Similarly, Downey of all people should have been aware of the possible consequences of drug abuse after filming "Less Than Zero". Hopefully, he has put his addictive behaviors behind him and can be the actor and human being he is capable of being.

I'm not sure what some of you all were expecting. It was just a good, solid summer action movie. I was entertained for 2 hours.

Ditto. I really enjoyed it. I'm bummed that Don Cheadle will be replacing Terrence Howard for the next one. I like Cheadle but love Howard right now.

Most moviegoers left the theater thinking it was Don Cheadle anyway, so they just went ahead and made it official for the sequel.
