Time is tight today. There might not be much listed here other than match-ups. If I have time later, I will try and fill some stuff in. Again, all times are CST, not all games are on tv, and these listed games are of interest to me.
Top 25
6:00 pm - ESPN - Davidson @ #2 Duke: Probably the most hyped game of the night. The best game might actually be Gonzaga @ #25 Tennessee. That said, Davidson put themselves on the map last year with close games against big names, including Duke. Curry has been lighting it up, but is basically a one man team. I like Lovedale a lot, but the entire team will have to come through if they want to give Duke a game. Duke is playing extremely well and thanks to their sneaky win against Rhode Island, their non-conference home winning streak against non-ranked teams (it's something like that) is still intact. Kyle Singler leads the Blue Devils and will be a top contender for ACC POY.
6:00 pm - ESPN2 - #21 Louisville @ South Florida: Louisville came into the season with a lot of hype. They have fallen off as off late going 2-2 in their last 4 games. How will the Cardinals start off Big East play - as the contender they were hyped as or a pretender? Samuels, Clark, Williams, and Sosa are ones to watch. South Florida's most recent game was a loss to conference foe, Syracuse. The Bulls are 1-3 in their last 4 games and don't want to start Big East play with 2 straight losses.
6:00 pm - ESPN Full Court/360 - DePaul @ #9 Syracuse - Does DePaul show up or do they drop to 0-3 in conference play? With a W, Syracuse moves to 3-0 in conference play and keeps building momentum towards March. Dar Tucker is one to watch for DePaul and is probably the most hyped DePaul player since Wilson Chandler, who was drafted by the Knicks two years ago. Ones to watch for Syracuse are Flynn, Harris, and Onuaku. I believe Devendorf has been reinstated after his off the court trouble, so his presence will be huge as well.
6:30 pm - ESPN Full Court/360 - No. 15 Marquette @ Rutgers - The three headed monster of McNeal, James, and Matthews battles an outstanding freshman for Rutgers, Mike Rosario.
8:00 pm - ESPN2 - Gonzaga @ #25 Tennessee - Ran out of time for this write up. However, I am highly interested in this game. Both teams have a lot of talent. The game could turn into a track meet. I love Pargo and Bouldin for the Zags. Daye is a great talent as well, but his slender build just makes me fear for his safety every time he is down low. Goodson is a local Houston kid, so that adds some extra incentive to root for Gonzaga. The Vols have a nice group of players as well in Smith, Chism, Prince, Maze, Hopson, Woolridge (son of former ND great and NBAer, Orlando) etc. Should be a fun one tonight. Did I mention that Gonzaga has played mainly on the road this year against some high quality teams? Oh yeah, Gonzaga beat Tennessee earlier in the year in, I believe, the Old Spice Classic.
