help me out. i just found out my wife and i are in charge of taking our 3 year old nephew out for the day to do something fun. we were going to go to the butterfly farm in frederickburg, but its supposed to rain. its also supposed to rain here in austin, which rules out just about every idea i had. staying in is not an option. i've never had to do this, so my list is pretty short. going to see ratatoullie seems like kind of lame.

folks with kids -- ideas?

There are several indoor playgrounds in Austin that feature some pretty impressive inflatable jump stations, slides, etc. A 3-year-old is perfect for that kind of thing. One of them is called "Pump It Up", and it's just a bit northwest of the intersection of Burnet and 183. It may be group reservation only, though. They'd know of some other options. Northcross Mall had some of that kind of thing at one time, too, but I don't know if they've converted back to an ice rink or not.

Ratatoullie is great but I don't how much a 3-year old would enjoy it.

How about the Austin Children's Museum. I haven't been to it since it was on west 5th but I'm sure it's still pretty cool.
