What to do in Minneapolis

I am in MSP quite a bit for work. It is definitely one of my favorite places. Too bad the Wild were kicked out of the playoffs as it was cool to watch a game across from the Xcel Center with their fans. I hear the scene before a Twins game can be fun.

Two things:

1. There is a thread somewhere on here about MSP that is pretty spot on.

2. The one thing I have not done that I really want to do is check out the numerous bike paths in the city. If you are into cycling this looks like one of the best places to ride in an urban setting.

If you play poker, there is a nice card room at Canterbury Park race track SW of the city. Only limit games, no no-limit I believe.

But just don't mention it in a Texas Exes event in Austin, because people will think that it's CRAZY that you would know something about art.

I 2nd First Ave. There always seems to be a good show there. Caught Hot Chip last weekend. 7th Entry is the side club that has nice local bands.

You need to find some where to eat some walleye.
It is one of my favorite things about visiting MN.
There is a place called Jenson's Supper Club, they have very good pecan encrusted walleye. I think it pretty close to Eagan.

If you can, try & catch a performance at the Guthrie. One of the great venues in America.

And I personally wouldn't waste my time at the MoA. Yeah, it's really big. And there's an amusement park in the middle. But it's just a bunch of the same shops you'll see anywhere, just more of them filled with fat tourists.

St. Paul has some nice places to tour: the Cathedral, the James J. Hill house (both on/near Summit Street), and a place called something like Victoria Station (or Crossing), which is bit further down (away from Cathedral) on Summit Street (it may be a street or two off from Summit). All three of these places are pretty near each other.

As mentioned, the Walker Art Center is a great museum for Minneapolis.
