What time do you get to the Cotton Bowl?

Plan on being parked by 9:00 at the latest. It can get atrocious. I assume you know, but it's not like just going to a stadium. You have the whole process of getting into the fair first (not that big of a deal, but still), then you gotta get a few beers and eat some vitamix samples or fletcher's corn dogs (don't get any of the imitations.. "FLETCHER'S") before wading through the sea of burnt orange and some sort of red at the gate for like 20 minutes trying to get in the gate.

Just get there about 30 minutes or an hour earlier than what you might think is early. That's my advice.

Enjoy the fair! See you there!

Plan to be down there by 7:00 am. There is a bar on the north side of the Cotton Bowl called the Fallout Lounge that will be open. There's a good little street taco stand there as well for your breakfast. Then walk over to the tailgates that will already be going strong. If you wait until 9 am you will never get "there" in time for an 11:00 am start.

Get in the stands by 10:00 am. Do NOT SHOW UP LATE!

Be Loud. Be Civil. Be Longhorn Fans and enjoy one of the best football games and the best college football atmosphere you will ever experience.

I agree with everyone saying 9:00 LATEST. You can't get there too early. Late however sucks.

Parking advice.....
Try and approach Fair Park from the south on Hwy 175. Been doing this route for years and traffic is always scarce. Take MLK exit toward the fairgrounds and you will see James Madison High School on your right. Their Junior ROTC program sells parking behind the school on the football field. Cost is very reasonable, they stay on premisis throughout the day, and it benefits a great youth program in an area that really needs such.

Does anyone have experience with taking a cab to the Fairgrounds? Do they receive expedited in / out privileges?

I'll be taking DART Rail like we do every year, and am deciding between the 6:43 or 6:58 am trains. I'm leaning towards the 6:43 train and will put me at the fair park station at 7:19am.

Plenty of time to get a Fletchers and a beer and something else fried.

Buy your coupons EARLY, and buy a lot, sounds like beer is more expensive this year

I remember the 5 coupon beer of just two year ago

This is my fav time of year!!

What ever you do get there EARLY!! 9am is TOO LATE!

Start walking into the stadium by 10am at the latest. It is the biggest cluster &$@! you will experience at a college football game. It takes 30-45 just to get in and get to your seats.

For 11am kicks we arrive around 8am and park in the fairgrounds parking lot - never had an issue - and like others we take I-45 and exit MLK - about :15 of traffic to the lot but not bad

When the game is scheduled for 11, I like to be walking in to the fairgrounds by 9. That means get parked by 8:30 or so. traffic isnt too bad then but its starting to heat up. it wont be packed yet in the fairgrounds (by that i mean you can move without bumping into anyone). Get some tickes. drink a few beers and grab some breakfast (for me, that's a couple corndogs). Then you are ready.

Yes, take a taxi. This is a great way to go. No hassles parking and no hassles driving after the game. Plan to be down there by 7 am and soak it in. You will wish you'd gotten there earlier later. . .

I usually get there at the same time OU sucks! It's an amazing coincidence. Of course, everything I do is at the same time OU sucks.

If you're driving, the best route I have found - and I've done this for the last 10 years - is come off of 75 east to Greenville, take Greenville south, Greenville becomes Munger, continue south on Munger to Lindsley (immediately north of I-30), take a right and drive a few blocks to Fair Park. It'll be on your left and you won't be waiting in any lines until its time to turn left into the parking.
