The doctor and nurses took my baby boy away to circumcise him. I seriously doubt they did this. I am nor Jewish. No, this does not appear normal at all.
 
Ths is quite normal for a "ritually correct" circumcision. In fact, some may say it is required.

Maimonides supported such a procedure.
 
Who is giving the youtube talk? A rabbi or a pediatrician...?

What is normal for one may not be normal for the other.

This really isn't that difficult.
 
Don't think of it as arguing; think of it as me dispensing truth and knowledge.

The only thing being accomplished here is the braying of ignorance. The world and its customs and cultures don't revolve around you. There are many things out there that others do which you may not find "normal".

Your definition of normal, by the way, is invalid.As if Americans, Texans, et al set that definition.

That depends. If all the others are as ethno-centric as the above, then you're correct. But all the others aren't like that, so you're wrong.

But I don't think many here would really want to apply the above definition of "normal" to their religious practices, do you? But feel free to criticize the jews. You know, they are such a small percentage of the population that almost all of what they do isn't "normal", i.e., in the majority.
 
I would hope, if not expect, that one who self-identifies with the esteemed Washington University in St. Louis would have an inkling of awareness of these things. LIkewise using the photo of a liberal linguist.

Perham, don't be a dimwit. I went to good schools and I am fan of Noam. And that should mean that I must have "an inkling of awareness" (what the **** does that even mean?) about dick sucking Rabbis in Israel? My wife is half Jewish and she grew up in Israel and she didn't know about the dick sucking Rabbis. This was all ******* news to her as well. Oh, and she went to Yale. She just asked her Israeli mother about this practice and the response (and I quote) "If I could I would kill half the Rabbis in Israel before any Mullah anywhere."

Anyway, the subject matter is a point of discussion in my house because my son arrives next month. My wife wants him circumcised and I don't.
 
I guess I just know a lot more about the world than most here. That is my cross to bear and I shoulder the load with reverential responsibility.

Anybody who is against circumcision is clueless, imo. I'm talking health reasons, not religious ones. Are you likewise against vaccinations?
 
Maybe part of the problem here is that we as Americans cant fathom how anyone would put their mouth on a baby's penis in a non sexual manner.

2000 years ago, this practice probably was done, and the explanation about saliva and the "plyability" of the mouth in helping to seal seems like it has plausibility. Nowadays, yeah, it probably isnt all that necessary, but people shouldnt be freaked out about it.

Of course, Sandusky has done a lot lately to make this kind of thing seem completely unrational and sadistic.
