post?? Julian Garrett died last week and we have no mention of him on this board??? My wife gave me as a Christmas present a pristine Life magazine from 11/41 (yes seventy yrs old) with him and his classmates on the cover--so got to make a shout out to him and his classmates---good story posted about this on the mis-Statesman--sorry no link, not good at that--regardless, thanks to him and his fellow teammates for putting The University on the map!! RIP to all of those gone before....

Unless my math is off, Garrett was 23, almost 24 (birthday in early January '42) when he played for the Horns in the Fall of 1941. Seems a little old...not by Ron McKelvey standards, mind you...but a bit older than your average college senior in the pre-redshirt years. Yet, he was the last survivor of the '41 cover boys.

How many survivors do the agros have that were at atm when they won their last National Championship.

Very strange coincidence: week before last on the exact day the AAS ran the story about the 1941 Life cover with the team on it, I was cleaning at my parents' house and found a copy of that Life edition. My father was a big UT fan from way back, and I assume he had the magazine from when it was first out. Gotta admit, that's a very strange coincidence, 70 years later.
