What kind of doctor treats ribs?

It's a ring around my entire left side, sternum to spine. More painful on the side and back. Hurts to inhale, feels better with pressure and heat. Pain pills are hit or miss.

Chiropractor helped for about 10 minutes, at least the first visit. I'm going again today after work. If he can't fix it, what's the next step I should try?

except if it isn't healing properly or if there is danger of it puncturing a lung or other vital organ. See your doc and get an x-ray.

Could be something other than musculoskeletal. Just hit the GP and they will farm you out if needed.

Whatever you do, don't peek at them. They are still there even if they hurt.

I'd recommend a good dry rub, like Stubb's.

Consult a GP first, he can tell you what to do from there if there's someone else you need to see, like Ricky Williams.

Thanks. The chiro says it's probably muscular and a compensation injury for my right shoulder. I've been battling problems with my right shoulder since a car wreck in March 2007. Chiro says it's time to see an ortho so I'll mention the rib to him. I agree he probably won't do anything about it but if he can fix my shoulder maybe my rib will heal. My appt is Monday.
