What is the right wine with turkey?

Serve both. I've always had white, but some people will prefer red. I have a bottle of 2 Buck Chuck Sauvignon Blanc that I'm going to open in an hour or so and I can't wait. Have a great dinner and Happy Thanksgiving.

A few years ago - it was...

Whites with foul and fish
Reds with beef and pasta (marinara dishes)

Nowadays, you drink what tastes good.

(The idea though was to PAIR food and beverage to enhance the taste of both, so the 'old' general rule is typically a good one)

You can go w/ either white or red. If you choose red, don't get something too tanic or peppery (cabernet sauvignon or zinfandel). I would suggest:

White: chardonnay
Red: pinot noir or merlot

I'm pretty sure we'll be having a merlot. Oh, and lots of champagne prior to dinner (Cristalino - $6.99/bottle.)

A co-worker told me they drink Beaujolais Nouveau during their dinner. I believe this year's was just released, so you could consider that.

too late now but Savignion Blanc is a good pairing with Turkey, or a lighter red like Pinot Noir.

One might very well argue that the pairing might be more related to the stuffing than the bird itself . For instance sausage in your stuffing, might lean to red, oyster stuffing might lean to white. as might suffings with no meat.

I do however think a Savignion Blanc is generally going to be better than a Chard with turkey.

I'm a big fan of whatever you want. We had both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Toss in a few budweisers and some blooday marry for breakfast. 6am came too fast.

For next time - some different suggestions -

Try a Barbera from Italy - a little soft, but goes wonderful with turkey. Along those same lines you could try something like a Rioja from Spain. Higher acidity in these wines usually make them better with food.

Pinot Noir would be great, as mentioned above.

As far as whites are concerned, do some French Chardonnay - Chablis, some White Bordeaux, or Sauvignon Blanc. Good stuff.
