What is going on with Connor?

His senior year is not going so good. I was just expecting him to explode this year. Maybe my expectations were too high for him.

Agreed. But today he was hurting. At one point Barnes asked if he could go back in and he said no.

I think it has very little to do with DJ leaving...as alluded to above, they commented on the radio broadcast that it's pretty obvious he's dealing with some sort of injury. think they speculated it was thigh/knee/leg sort of thing. not sure.

hopefully he'll be healthy by the time conf play starts.

But he is hurt and it shows.

Case in point--second half, a little after Atchley hit his only three of the game.

Atchley has the ball at the top of the key. He passes to the wing and cuts straight to the basket, gets the return pass, and makes the easy shot off the glass.

Then, he limps down the floor.

Atchely can't elevate for rebounds or to contest shots. He limps after sudden acceleration or quick stops.

Dude is hurting.

certainly had a solid game vs texas southern, his old self showed for a good 5 or so minutes. maybe he is getting his confidence back.

I'm sorry Mason may have had 9 assists but it was far from a good offensive effort. He seems to stand around more on offense than anything else. He refuses to drive the ball, picks up his dribble way to early, and off the ball he was just standing around all game. He has his moments but he really needs to pick his game up on offense.

Connor, James and Johnson all look like they have taken a step back form last year. Why?

James plays 7 minutes per game, usually in the second half. He sleeps or dribbles off his foot the rest of the time.

Connor and Chapman are both playing liked scared freshman. Chapman can really jump, but he cannot finish and Connor fouls too much.

I'm not sure they will improve enough any time soon.

Finally we will lose three close games because of free throws!

The team is obviously playing to the level of their competition, which is in part due to a problem with focusness.

There is no excuse for getting your *** kicked on the boards by a team like Texas Southern, but the Tigers were hitting an unusually high percentage of jumpers tonight.

I work with a guy that coached Conner in AAU and stays in touch with him. I asked him before today's game what he thought was wrong with him so far this season. He loves Atchley to death but says Conner does not perform well when those close to him put high expectations on him. That's all I'll say

There's obviously something physically wrong with Connor. Remember early last season when it seemed he had suddenly exploded in terms of his athleticism? He was leading fast breaks, playing up around the rim, and in general looked completely different than he does now.

I hope there isn't an additional pressure component alluded to by Texas Taps. It's hard enough to get to the next level, be it the NBA or overseas, but if the expectations are being amplified by others, then . . .
