What in the world is KBVO?

I live in Austin but won't be in town this weekend for tomorrow's game. I'd like to record it, but I have no idea what channel it's on (Time Warner Cable). TexasSports.com says the Austin Big 12 network affiliate is KBVO, but I have never heard of such a thing and can't find it anywhere on my TWC channel listing. Anyone know what the hell this is or, better yet, why the #2 team in the country can't get on a real channel?

Okay, best I can tell, KBVO is lame spin-off the CW, and is only available in HD on TWC (Channel 1525). It is channel 51 on DirecTV. However, for those without TWC HD service, the game is also available on ESPN Full Court, which, it appears, has a free preview weekend starting tomorrow and running through next Saturday, so you should be able to catch the Colorado and Iowa State games on those channels for free (starts with 901 on TWC). The cost is $79 if you purchase ESPN Full Court after that, and I believe we have two more games later this season that will be on this Big 12 network garbage.

Hope that helps some of you who may have had the same problems.

Where did you get the information about the free preview of the ESPN Full Court Package? I looked at DirecTV's website and couldn't find it. I currently have DirecTV with full HD service, but I don't know if I get Ch. 51. I'll have to check this evening after work.

I saw it on the Time Warner Cable website, but I've seen on other message boards that DTV will have it as well. They do it every year around this time, when conference play is getting started. You may want to call them and make sure. I did see that Cablevision will not make the free preview available to their customers. Don't know if that affects anyone here.

KBVO or K-BEVO was the call letters for the first Fox affiliate in Austin which was on channel 42. When FOX moved to KTBC channel 7 the CBS affilaite moved to KBVO 42 but changed the call letters to KEYE. Last I saw KBVO was being used as the upstart MYNETWORK with KXAN NBC.
The original owner of KBVO was murdered by his golddiging wife here is Austin in 1999.

Ah the good old days when I grew up in Austin. I remember when KBVO 42 first came on the air and about the only thing on was the tracy ullman show with clips of the simpsons.

Per AAS:

The Big 12 basketball network has a new local home on KBVO, a digital channel affiliated with KXAN. It will carry the weekly Saturday package along with some weekday evening games and the Big 12 tournament. Over the air, KBVO is on channel 14. On Time Warner Cable, it's channel 1525 on the digital package; on AT&T U-verse it's channel 7 (1007 in HD); on Grande Communications it's channel 18 (318 HD); and it's on Suddenlink it's channel 15 (115 HD). On satellite, it's channel 51 on DirectTV.

My Dad has TWC in Austin. He does not have HD so KBVO is not on his digital cable (he is coming over to my place now). BUT, that is why I dumped TWC about a year ago. They are just about worthless. I switched to U-Verse.

TWC has free HDTV. He doesn't get those channels though?

Blurry as **** on my screen. We need a Big12 Network already.

I know very little about this stuff, but maybe if you don't have an HD box, you won't get the non-HD digital broadcasts that are in the 1500s and 1600s.

I saw it today and it was in High Definition with no problems I could see. I have Grande and watched it on 312. Thanks for the heads up, fellas.

We have TW digital package. We set up the game to DVR so we could watch it again at a later time. Didn't tape. We do not subscribe to HD. Bummer.

I went to the game so I did not get to see it in HD but the normal picture quality of the regular programming is really pretty poor on Direct 51 here in Austin. At least it is for me.

TEXASMADE is the winner!! True story, too!

I finally called my Dish TV service center as I was not intuitive enough to work through the web page.

DISH TV Channels 455 thru 465 is the ESPN Full Court.
But is NOT high definition.

It's free this week for preview.
Texas game on Wed, 13-Jan, is on DishTV Ch 458 (ESPN FC).
I plan to test it.

I have a cracker jack HD receiver, with multi-HD packages (just not movies and FC yet) and excellent flat panel that shows if something is great, or if its crap. If the picture is crap, I'l be able to tell right away and won't spring the $79 for non-HD crap picture.

By the way, how can anything not be in HD anymore? Isn't everything in color? Non-HD is like b&w tv with snow and scrolling scan lines.

But.... if you have DISH then you can watch the No. 1 Horns Wed night on Ch. 458. Then go from there.

Hook'em!

I have TWC and get 1525 without a cable box. It was recently added to the lineup, so you might have to rescan for the channel or manually add it. Everyone should be able to get 1501, 1511, 1521, 1525, 1531, and the PBS HD channels without a cable box.
