What if Trump refuses to accept defeat in 2020? (Opinion) - CNN
"CNN)President Donald Trump's critics are increasingly focused on the question of which Democrat will challenge him for the presidency in 2020. It's an important question, but another one might be even more important: Regardless of who runs in 2020, if Trump loses, will he leave the Oval Office peacefully?"

Dems are signaling they intend to use whatever means necessary to unseat Trump. They don't need no stinkin voter id. They have plans b and c.

What if any President refuses to accept defeat? This just a manufactured reason to Trump-bash. They must be getting low on material

A friend of mine who has a son in law in the valley says Hispanics are moving towards Trump, mainly due to jobs (maybe partial birth abortion). The election could be over before it began.

Hispanics won't deliver the election to him. Regaining suburban voters will.

Blacks are leaving the Democrats plantation for Trump. More than we realize. Of course you know it’s happening when the Liberals now start talking about paying blacks reparation. I predicted this would happen the first year of Trump’s presidency when I seen the unemployment for blacks at an all time low.

It won't take a majority of Hispanics but if Trump makes gains in minorities overall and suburban white women its game over in 2020.

Trump already has white men in the bag but I am considering voting for him this time around just as middle finger to Progressives.

The key has to be suburban whites (men and women). If he just picks up some Hispanic support (and I think he can) but suburban support is where it was in 2018, he'll lose decisively, because he'll lose PA, MI, WI, and IA (and maybe FL and OH). He needs to build on the support he got in 2016, because Democrats are going to be motivated to turn out in 2020 unlike in 2016. That means further expanding his support from suburban whites and picking up some minority support.

He does have some things going for him that he didn't have in 2018. First, he'll have an opponent to go after, and it from every indication, that opponent will be acting like a freak or certainly will have acted like a freak to get the nomination. Most of the Democratic gains in 2018 came from suburban moderates. If the Democratic nominee doesn't reject AOC/Bernie-style lunacy, they can be won back, especially if they combine it with some really nutty social stances. Second, GOP voters will be motivated in a presidential year as Democrats were in 2018.

The Trump fatigue is being underestimated. At some point the middle voter will tire of Trump's childish, brutish antics and simply want him to go away. He has a locked in 35-40% base. His primary strategy will be to drive more voter apathy and hope everyone stays home.

Is there any doubt that should Trump lose he and his supporters will blame vote fraud?

Democrat fatigue will be even worse I'm afraid. That ****-show from yesterday while Trump was doing something important ticked people off.

I wonder if all the millions Now employed , Hispanics, Blacks ,disabled, women , newly employed people in manufacturering jobs ( the ones obama said were not coming back),
all the people who have seen tax cuts and their wages rising give a whit about " brutish antics"

if in fact they see Trump improving their lives, improving trade agreements that will keep adding jobs, reducing onerous regulations that add more jobs and then say Damn I do not like his brutish behavior. Do those millions who have benefited think a second on so called " brutish behavior"?

let's ask the ones in line to be hired at the first new auto plant to be built in Detroit in 10 years, Good paying jobs
wonder if they will think "brutish behavior" is important.

man if all Dems have is to bash Trump for what they think is brutish behavior that is the bottom of the barrel :rolleyes1:
It's the economy Stupid.

True fatigue is pretty rare in a first term, especially when the economy is strong. Is Trump more fatiguing than most? Yes. If somehow a Joe Biden (or somebody like that who doesn't scare people) is the Democratic nominee, I could see fatigue being an issue. However, if the Democrats nominate a hardcore left-winger (embraces the Green New Deal, etc.), I think many moderates will be willing to hold their noses and either vote for or be willing to tolerate Trump for another term simply because he's a known quantity. He'll act like a jackass, but he's probably not going to ruin the economy. There's a lot in the GND that is very easy to attack to a broad electorate especially in swing states. It is a frightening agenda, and most of the potential nominees are jumping on it.

I'm sure he will, and I'm sure many of his supporters will.

I couldn’t disagree more with this fatigue talk. This tells me after all this time since the last election that some here still don’t get it. People wanted a leader to finally stand up for the American People and to stand up to the media and the swamp. That alone gets him re-elected. They’ve been exposed and I strongly believe the fatigue that is setting in with the silent majority is and always has been the MSM. They shame, bully, and attempt to brainwash Americans and now the people see it for what it is. If that’s not enough, the people crying about red caps being worn and then abuse the ones wearing those hats has become tiresome. The claim of racism has become tiresome. The identity politics have become tiresome. It happens everyday and not just Trump supporters are tired of it.

Trump has always been a counter puncher. But it’s just like SH tried to spin it like Trump is the instigator andnthat has become tiresome. Can you imagine Trump ever having to counter punch if the media treated him like Obama? They started in on him way early in his campaign and never stopped. Makes me laugh to think if Trump was trying on clothes and CNN was there helping him pick out his wardrobe and laughing and giggling with him like they did with Kamala Harris.

With the economy so great and all of the things Trump has accomplished is the icing on the cake. Trump will win and it won’t even be close. I was one of the few here that said the polls are wrong and Trump will be the next President. Also Joe Biden has zero chance to win with having Obama's horrible luggage to carry. Everyone can see the big difference between Trump and Obama. The dishonesty, corruption, the blame game is finally catching up with the left.

Mr D,
This interested me, "There's a lot in the GND that is very easy to attack to a broad electorate especially in swing states. "
I admit I don't know to what you refer.

Yep. Trump is nowhere the lowlife that the democrats are and most people seem to understand that.

OH
thanks Sangre
Stupid me.
Got it

I actually read it as gross national product.
don't know why

Do you think there are enough people in swing states who think there really is free stuff to be had?
Aren't many of the new jobs in the swing states?
I would think /hope most people like having jobs.

I would be surprised if more college educated whites don't vote for Trump in 2020. Trump has been a middle of the road Republican President if you take away his tweets. I think there was a large number of normal Republican voters that didn't vote for Trump because they thought he would be more liberal than advertised. Now with 4 years of evidence, you can't say that. Some still won't vote for him because he is a scumbag.

In all fairness, there is a connection. If you pass the Green New Deal, you won't have much of a gross national product.
GND = 1 / GND is the formula I think you are referring to (it works whichever GND you assign it to).

Monahorn
Trump is typical N Y who became ultra succesful. He has an oversized ego and a big mouth.
But I genuinely believe he loves this country so much he is willing to put up with the dem/media crap to turn things around.
So far he is walking his talk. He did not need this crap.
If scumbag is the right word then this scumbag came along at the right time.if we have to accept his ego and petty snipes to get what he has done in 2 years in the scheme of things it is a small price to pay

It isn't just a matter of "free stuff." Of course, some do want free stuff. However, it's also a matter of likability and association. People don't want to vote for or to enable an *******. (See 2018 election.) However, they will vote for one if the other candidate is also an ******* (See 2016 election.) or if the other candidate will harm them in a meaningful way.

There's a lot to exploit in the GND to suggest that the Democratic nominee will harm pretty much all states but especially the industrial swing states. It is political gold - big tax hikes, explosion of energy costs, etc. In manufacturing states, the GND would be a massive job killer. True, it promises to "guarantee" jobs, but people who already have decent jobs don't want economic calamity.
