Hey guys,

I know a few of you live here in London and so I wanted to gather a list of who here is close by. I was thinking about at some point in the future to have a meet up at a pub in town. Just getting names at this point and seeing who would possibly be up for a pint at some point.

wish i would have seen this before - i fly out on saturday morning, but have been staying on bayswater by the queensway station in bayswater/hyde park area for the last week.

I dont live in london but i thought this would be a good place to get my question answered.

About how much would you expect to pay for rent for a 1 bedroom apartment in london? I know it would vary a lot on location. I would probably be looking for an area that is middle of the road as long as the area is safe.

Just a little background info. I am a teacher here in austin but would like to live somewhere else at least for a little while in my life. I would have to do a lot of research on what it would take to be able to teach over there but it might be worth it to catch NUFC in person a few times a year.

Upper class 1 bedroom will probably cost you $2500+

Middle of the road 1 bedroom will probably cost you $1600+

Lower income 1 bedroom will probably cost you $1000+

Imagine living in New York city and paying those prices. Now, throw the currency exchange (roughly $1.70 = 1 pound) to figure your cost of living. It's not so bad if you are working there because you will be earning the higher of the two exchange rates. But, starting out, it's costly.

In regards to the cost of renting....cos the exchange rate is so bad (or good if you are earning £££), it's a bit skewed. However, property as you can tell, is expensive here. A lot of people might get a flat or house share to start out.

I would say in an okay area in a lot of suburbs, you would pay around £700-800 for a 1 bedroom flat. The further out you go, the cheaper it gets.

Do some property searches online to get a clearer idea. However, until you know where and if you can teach here, it's a bit pointless. I don't know that a US teaching certificate would transfer here, and vice versa.

Okay, back to the thread....

Who is maybe up for meeting up on a Friday night, maybe the 6th of June? Or is a Saturday easier?

I'll probably be coming along with the missus. We could pick somwhere central to make it easier for everyone. From the look of it, there might be 6 or 7 of us.

Thoughts?

Oh yeah, would be tough to meet up on the 6th of june.

This Saturday the Texas Exes are having a pub crawl. Starts at 1pm. I'm definitely showing up to that with the missus.

Anyone going, your welcome to come and find us and introduce yourself. It's probably easier to find us than the other way around. We both have English accents, shouldn't be too tough to spot us.
