What Happens

If the democrats successfully prosecute Trump, do they understand what happens when the Republicans take control of the house and senate?

Domestic oil production increases, inflation goes flat, economy gets back on track.

Go after / prosecute demx members , FBI, etc etc for their illegal and unethical activities since Trump won in 2016? Won't happen and they know it. They have cover from the msm, liberal judges et al. Going after them would be another Lesson in Futility

I still don't think they'll actually prosecute him. Remember, this is about the '22 election, not about Trump. If Democrats were doing well in the polls, none of this **** would be happening. The impeachment from 2021 would have been the end of it. They'd be celebrating Build Back Better, packing the Court, passing a Green New Deal, and running recruitment ads for the military with guys who look like Rupaul in them. This is a diversionary tactic and nothing more.

If they actually do pressure Garland into doing it, they'll lose. They won't lose at trial. A liberal DC court would indict, and a jury full of Trump-haters would absolutely convict him no matter what the evidence is. However, unless the appellate courts are willing to basically trash a huge wad of First Amendment jurisprudence from the last 120 years just to spite Trump, the conviction won't stand.

As for the GOP taking control of Congress, I'm not sure how that would make a big difference. They're not going to remove anyone from their jobs, and they can't prosecute anyone on their own. If they win the presidency in '24, that could be another matter. However, even that isn't automatic. My hope is that if the GOP wins in '24, the President will have a policy agenda to push. Will he really want to blow time and political capital engaging in this pissing match of prosecuting ex-presidents? I wouldn't, and a DC jury would never convict a Democratic president anyway, so it would be pointless.

After the 2022 election and if DeSantis wins the nomination, Trump hysteria will be over. However, look for Dems to pump up Trump after 2022 because that is the only shot they have at winning 2024. I think people see through the charade.

Desantis v. Trump will be a blood bath.

Bubba,

I realize you are a liberal democrat, but would you please travel up to Tulsa and talk JC into coming back to run. Tell him we promise that old man Bush is dead, and none of his kids or grandkids have any stroke.

I hope he doesn't. Big mistake. By the way, I hope you live 200 years, but when you die, you need to follow this lady's example. Link.

No thanks. I'm not into dicks. I would prefer DeSantis as prez but this combo would do well.

Let's not do a rehash of why Trump lost because we won't agree. :p

I was speaking politician wise, not regular people wise like us.

But how can I expect a politician to do something I wouldn't do? Would I like to see some Democrats thrown in the slammer? Sure, but it's not gonna happen in DC. Furthermore, it would distract from the policy agenda, which I care about more.

What does this have to do with my point that Republican politicians don't have the fortitude to do anything?

Because you say that Republican politicians wouldn't prosecute Democrats because they don't have the balls (rather than because it would be futile and counterproductive).

Ok, gotcha. Missed that. When did anyone in Washington start caring about being productive or not? I thought all that matters these days is the show...the perception of doing something while actually just being crooked.

Plenty of Republicans would want to see crooked Democrats prosecuted, but they also know the political realities and risk assessments. Putting James Comey or whoever on trial for something and having in acquitted isn't going to help anything and will make Republicans look bad. There's no upside to it.

This is the man.

The full response is SOOOO worth the read.
