I know Mack has it mastered, and his differs from others, but is there a general "itinerary" for what the kids get to do on Junior Day's around the country?

workouts? is it more like an official visit?

Always wondered and never thought to ask.

Yahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! PADELLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First they go tour the weight room, where there is one Maddog working with 120 players. Then they all go to Macks house where they count the number of flat screens and debate over if Macks house is nicer than Stoops or Miles'. Then they go to a party with drugs and ladies with loose morals. Then they commit.

I've thought about this alot.

This is sheer conjecture...

Part A) Everyone meets together in a banquet hall type gathering. At each table are a couple recruits w/their parents along with either a current player or a legend from the past. Ala an Eric Metcalf type player. Then everyone is just kind of socializing and eating some good grub.

Part B) At said gathering, you have a couple of speakers. You see a video montage of our rich tradition with all of our National Championships. Then a speaker like Daryl Royal or James Street speaks about the tradition of being a longhorn and what it means to them.

Part C) A current coach... Most likely Mack talks about the importance sports and life and what being a longhorn can mean. Then he shows a video montage of recent recruits that these new recruits will be playing with. Maybe he tells the story of Tony Hills.. A player we gave a schollie to who then got injured. We still honored that Schollie when many others within our conference would not have. Tony Hills just recently won a SuperBowl Ring. Mack might talk about our superior NFL track record etc.

Part D) Players are split up to be with the position coach they'll likely be under. Then they watch some practice drills of a live practice or tape with that coach and have a Q&A session.

Part E) Maybe they'll have an academic advisor come and talk about where TX ranks academically. Maybe they'll have a booth set up to talk to parents about the various programs we offer and how we can help student athlete's.

That's how I'd do it anyway.

Recruits are given copious amounts of burnt orange Kool Aid laced with Mack's extra potent snake oil.

Then they commit.

I am curious also. Why is it impossible to get a serious answer on this board? Just reading I was under the impression it was the smartest, most informed, greatest board in the country. How could there be a better place to look for a small bit of imformation. Opps just figured it out. Classified.

I emailed the football office and it seems they do not know either as I have not received a response.
Could the sarcasm meter be turned off long enough for someone to provide an informative answer?

good interview with a Bamna recruit from a free site....

(junior day 09)
Jones had a full itinerary upon arriving in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

"When we arrived, I signed in and they put the recruits into groups by region or by the coach that is recruiting them. Then we all went to the stadium and Coach Saban addressed everyone there," said Jones. "It was a good talk and he really hit home his point about stressing academics and character building. My group then checked out the academic buildings and academic centers for the athletes, the Bryant cafeteria for players and finally the dorm rooms.

"We then got on buses and traveled around campus, checking out the Quad and the school buildings and then we headed back to the stadium to eat in the Zone. We had some great barbeque. Then we went to the athletic facilities and checked out the weight room and the locker rooms which were first class."

Jones and his fellow Junior Day participants then got a chance to ask some of the current Alabama players some questions.

"They had Javier Arenas, Terrence Cody, Josh Chapman and Michael Johnson in like a panel setting. Some of the recruits asked questions and then Javy really talked a lot and gave an idea of what an Alabama football player goes through."

Jones ended his day by talking with Saban one-on-one.

So i'm sure there's a little more. I know the the Proffessors of some of the colleges are there to talk to the parents, etc

I think having players that have graduated at the can be an NCAA infraction. I remember Notre Dame got in a little hot water when Joe Montana just happened to show up in South Bend when Jimmy Clausen was visiting. Essentially, it is against the NCAA rules for anyone other than an official representative of the school (read coach/admin personnel) to be recruiting a kid. It's a gray line but if form UT stars all showed up on Junior Day then that could be an issue.

USC tried to skirt the rules 2 years ago by having their Junior day the same day as the USC Pro Day in which 1,500 NFL scouts/agents were mingling with the USC graduates. Putting ~3,000 Junior kids on the same field as 1,500 NFL people should have gotten USC thrown on probation immediately due to stupidity at best and an attempt to cheat at worst.

for Junior Days most coaches still refer back to what is commonly considered in college football the modern day

So I suppose nobody knows what happens on Junior Days?

Seems like at least one player would spill the beans.

It's not the first time I have seen a legitimate question go ignored on this board.
