What happened to Concordia

So, over summer I had noticed they had razed a building and construction has overtaken their baseball field. Then last week I hear they have opened a new campus in the NW corner of the city. So did they just sell out their obviously valuable property and set up shop somewhere else? Or are they just downsizing and opening a satelite campus? It appears that they are already rebuilding on the site where they demolished a building. Anyone know what that will be?

They sold all the land and moved out to the old Schlumberger site near 620/2222.

I think the old campus will be the usual mix of condos, retail, and offices.

I certainly wasn't good enough to play baseball there, but I miss the field too. For some reason, it always stood out as a landmark when we would visit Austin before I moved here to go to school.

From what I've heard, they have reused some kind of a high percentage of the prior buildings to make the new facilities.

Impressive if they can do it with a cost effectiveness.

So what we're saying here is that because they didn't expand into 50 story tall skyscrapers, that the school didn't plan ahead... is that what we're saying?

all I'm saying is outside of the fact a really cool baseball field that was built by players and coaches was destroyed, by no means did concordia get screwed by the "greed of Austin". They, in fact, made a concious decision to relocate and ended up in a better longterm situation than if they had stayed

A former co-worker (at UT) has a mom and sister that work at Concordia. One is in adminsitration. Concordia was very happy with what happened. They feel they benefitted the most. So does the other side, the developers. So it is good all around, I guess.
