The 2015 Class is looking pretty spiffy and seems to cover all the needs at this point.

I guess if we lose Burt, we need another wide receiver. Probably could use another DT or TE if good ones are available and there is always room for an exceptional RB, QB, DB, Slot receiver or pass rusher, though we have good numbers in those positions already.
 
our biggest want right now is for all the current commits to stay committed thru NSD.
 
Daylon Mack. I know we've cleaned up on the def side of the ball, but this is a guy that can be dominate up front. I wonder if Charlie has something up his sleeve at the WR position.
 
If we are making a wish list, it's keep all our current commits, Boyd, Mack, Hill and .....Murray!!
 
Warren probably 65%, Hill at 50% and Murray at 5%, I think

Wouldn't that be a kick in the crotch of the Aggies if Murray for some reason sees the light and came to the good guys.
 
I want a reliable punter - scholarship or walk-on. Horns are going to hurt in this area unless someone steps up.
 
Speaking of the remaining spots, there was an interview I saw today, of Townsend, Charles and Jamile Johnson who are in CA for the Semper Fi all-stars game. Charles, who is usually the one closest to the truth on commitments said when asked who will fill the remaining spot - "Warren, Hill, Gilbert Johnson and Kris Boyd. Those are the 4 that I am confident of". Jamile Johnson then said that he talked to Holton Hill, who apparently said that UT is his #1 too. WR Gilbert Johnson (FL) who completes 5/5 on thhe Florida Five had been considered a silent commit for a long time, so he can be counted in, just as Charles said.

If we go by that, what we will see at spots 26 thru 29 are:

CB Holton Hill,
CB Kris Boyd
RB Chris Warren
WR Gilbert Johnson

Then we will have 2 spots for whoever comes through from among Daylon Mack (DL), Drew Richmond (OL) Kai Locksley (QB) and Ryan Newsome (WR). If Hill or Boyd takes too long to decide (or if Boyd goes to a&m), we will push hard for Mark Fields for CB. Also, if Burt decommits, we will try our level best to flip Carlos Strickland.

That's about what I see happening from now on. But it's amazing to be in the top final list of so many 4-star guys, and to see us easing off on 4-5 of them in the end, if all goes like how it looks for now.
 
With WR G Johnson on board and assuming UT takes 30 or 31:

I'd love to see DT D Mack and OL D Richmond but I feel neither is likely - just gut feel. I'd make room for either one somehow, some way.

Then 1 RB Warren or Brousette
Then 1 DB
Then 1 WR if Burt changes his mind - Lodge or Strickland or Newsome
Then 1 more DB if numbers allow.

Is that asking too much?

Agree. I would actually take one more DL, even a 3-star, for depth reasons anyway. But there is such a logjam with interested 4-star guys out there that the staff won't do it and look for a juco or two in 2016 (if needed). Mack would be terrific for depth reasons too. On the other hand, for the 3-3-5 scheme that Charlie uses, we don't need that many DL bodies. Just need playmakers on the DL (again Mack fits). I guess Charlie knows what he needs on D, so I shouldn't worry.
 
All these new toys aren't going to be enough if we don't address the QB problem. Unless you believe the kid from N.M. or Heard is the answer, we've still got a problem. And even if they are the answer, we still lack depth. Look at Ohio St. three stud QBs and they're down to No. 3.

4. Spot held open for Mack until he indicates conclusively that he’s going elsewhere.

What Eles do we Want? How about Results. That's all i care about. If these new recruits can contribute this coming year and produce W's. That's all I need.
 
I had the impression that Newsome (Aledo) was a lock....what up with that....is that a situation we are holding as security in event we don't get someone we believe is a better take?
 
Newsome was a lock, but he sat on his offer for too long, and may have taken himself out of the running because of our crunch in available schols (or he may have a hint that the staff is not pursuing him hard enough anymore). I am sure if he commits soon, he will get a spot but if it goes any longer, the staff may have to tell him that it is safer for him to commit to another place than risk Texas running out of schols. That would be a pity, to send away a speedy 4-star receiver like that but what can we do?

Anyway, he is set to make an announcent of some sort tonight at 7,45 on his twitter. Maybe a final-2 from among Texas, UCLA, Tennessee (which he has announced as top-3 already) or maybe he will announce a commitment date. The dude should just get off his butt and commit, but he said it's not a commitment announcement today.
