What Does Obama Want Now?

He got his punitive tax increase on the "rich" that he talked about incessantly during the election.

Is he done punishing the 2%ers or was that just the beginning of the class warfare he seems to want.

He hasn't done a damn thing about decreasing the deficit, $600 billion in new tax revenue vs. a projected 6 Trillion dollar deficit over the next ten years. Does he care about the deficit?

Serious question. Educate me on the 10% reduction. The information I have seen shows no reduction of the deficit.

New tax rates will yield $60 billion in new revenue, assuming the $400k+ people make no moves to mitigate their tax exposure (no likely).

But I'll give him the $60 billion, stand by while I do some math.........................nope, the $60 billion does not cut the deficit by 10%.

O will try and do a head fake and try to convince us that gun control and immigration reform are more important then entitlement and deficit reduction.

He will fail miserably on both, demagogue Rs for not wanting to protect school children and making slaves out of illegal immigrants all the while playing out the clock and not dealing with entitlements.

He's an f'ing joke.

I would love to see the math as well.....

I believe that Obama has stated that amesty for illegal immigrants is one of his priorities for this year.

Class warfare has been going on since at least 1970.

The very rich and rich continue to absorb a larger slice of the national income, while the ranks of the poor continue to grow and the portion of the population that was middle class continue to get poorer.

Income disparity is at an all-time high, at least since such things have been measured.

Given the inability of the American public to elect TRUE small government representatives and the complete unwillingness of the public to entertain spending cuts, the rich absolutely should be made to pay more in taxes. Raising taxes on the impoverished won't do much to solve the budget deficit, since they already pay such a huge portion of their income to taxes.

More White Collar jobs were created in the 1980's and more people moved from Lower Middle Class to Middle Class than at any other time in history, so when did this class warfare start again?

Oh yea, with the Congress that was in control for what 40 years? Stole blind from us and not only created 16T in debt another 60T in unfunded Social Services.......

One dollar earned or given to should be taxed at the same rate no matter who earns it and no tax deductions or tax exempt organizations until we are solvent again and then we will look at it very closely.

^^^. This.

And maybe the poor are getting poorer because they have given up all hope of working and just rely on what the government gives them. When this money runs out, as it certainly will if nothing changes, what will they do?

Maybe the way to handle the largest issue of spending, entitlements, is to cap them as a percentage of GDP but allow lawmakers to shift between the various different forms of entitlements. Really almost all spending could be handled this way except in time of war.

Sorry Uninformed, I'm pretty sure that Obama won't choose anything from Libertarian dogma. In fact, I'm pretty sure that any new revenue he gets, such as the Fiscal Cliff tax increases, will be used for additional spending.

Interesting. I know tons of PhDs, MDs, DMDs, who are Republican and very into education. It seems that Bush and Romney found education very important as well. In fact, I can hardly think of any prominent Repoublicans who find education unimportant. It seems that perhaps some people like to name call without seeking the truth. You know what they say, "ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free".

Roger, thanks for the reply. But I would ask you to consider that those who hold differing viewpoints may firmly believe them - as firmly as you believe your principles. You'll get a better discussion of philosophy and issues if you can do so in a moderate tone - without the name-calling.

I, for example, believe firmly in the principles of limited government and maximum responsibility and accountability for the individual. I understand that you and other liberals may feel strongly otherwise. I'd be happy to discuss with you.

Classic - the "you are racist if you disagree with the President" bullet. Why do these shallow liberals hate free thought and speech so much?
