What do we need to do to host a regional....

With the large bid we made to the NCAA I think 2 out of 3 in OKC does it. Unbelievable considering how we were playing in April.
 
If we make the championship game then we should be hosting. If we win the Big 12 then we are hosting a regional no doubt about it.
 
Geography could hurt Texas if they are borderline hosting.

There will be regionals in Baton Rouge, Houston, College Station, and Stillwater. Would the NCAA put three regionals within 200 miles of one another and five within 500 miles?

They will want to justify the changes they have made by holding at least 1 up north.

For Texas to host, I think they need to get to the championship game of the Big 12 tourney.
 
We finished 5th in our conference and our RPI is in the mid-20's.

Barring a whole lot of teams going 0-3 over the next week, we're not going to host.
 
Texas has a very good shot at hosting, but it will be as a 2-seed. NCAA doesn't care about geography. They care about money. Keith Moreland seemed to think yesterday that it was already pretty much a done deal. I think the Horns need to beat Missouri and A&M to guarantee it, though.

We don't have to be a number one seed to host a regional, and it sounds like there is a decent chance-we will see.

If we beat Mizzou & A&M, we'll be hosting for sure, because that means our 3rd game would be against OU, who we'll kill.

So, we'd be 3-0 and in the title game. That means we're hosting, possibly as a 1-seed even.

I'm not a big conspiracy theory guy, but you cannot convince me that Texas has been treated fairly by the Committee over the past few years, nor can you convince me it is a coincidence. Where do I begin? Maybe with sending #6 Cougar High to Austin for the SR in '02 when the Horns were a Top 8 national seed? Or do we ignore that and start with not giving the #6 ranked Horns a Top 8 national seed in '03 and then sending them to Tallahassee to face #1 ranked FSU? And last year was a picnic - sending us a borderline 1-seed (Boyd ISR #10; pRPI #27) as our 2-seed (assuming you can defend making UCI a 2-seed, you send the best 2-seeds to the non-Top 8 1-seeds).

Every year one or two 2-seeds host Regionals, but I cannot believe that Texas will be given that advantage. If by some stroke of luck I am wrong, I will give away 4 free passes to Billy Goat Hill to the first person to PM me. (Assuming they reinstate it).

All I ask is that we be given someplace easy to get to.
 
it is simple- in the minds of the ncaa Garrido is the Tarkanian of college baseball. Don't bet on a consolation prize.
 
I agree with HornStar. The only way we host is as a 1-seed and I don't quite see us making that.

However, depending on our pairing and where we play for a regional, I could see us possibly hosting a super.
 
Hornstar is right on. No way we catch a break. We're going in as a 2 and will be in the toughest bracket they can find for us.

Though I would LOVE to step on aggy on our way to Omaha.
