What did Augie tell Loy?

Augie stopped the game for a few seconds to confer with Brandon before his massive 3 run double. Anyone have any idea what he said? I listened for it in the postgame conference but they didn't talk about it.

Knowing Augie, it was probably something incomprehensibly Zen, like "Patience comes from wisdom. Let the ball be your guide."

I overheard the conversation from my seat:

Augie: "The game of baseball has a spiritual component which can lead to a series of successes, if it can be captured at the right moment."
Loy: "What the f does that mean?"
Augie: "It means knock the hell out of the ball."
Loy: "Ok, coach, ok."

I believe Augie was miked. I think I heard: Ok Brandon. The game is in your hands. The pressure is on you. The whole team is counting on you. Get a double or you are worthless snot.

My sister's fomer best friend once dated Augie's nephew's next door neighbor's red-headed college roommate -
so I know for a fact that he said, "Stay thirsty my friend."

I think he told him to knock the snot out of it so it looks like it will go out, but its just short enough to stay in, so he could give me and Craig a heart attack.

Seriously, there are a couple of things that I noticed as Augie was talking to Brandon.

First, they were both smiling and laughing and Augie was even messing with Torres who had stepped up to listen in. I had a thought that even though we were down 3 in the 9th, I hadn't seen Augie use that laughing/joking attitude since the Oklahoma series.

Also, we had been noticing the shifting and swirling breeze for the last several innings. Just as Loy was coming up, the breeze picked up and started blowing steadily (flags were actually popping) out to left center. Most people won't understand this, but Brian said that Eleanor was definitely in the house.

And this is what Brandon said to Augie:

"Hey, coach ... a naked blonde walks into a bar with a poodle under one arm and a two-pound salami under the other. The bartender says, 'I guess you won't be needing a drink?' and the blonde says ..."

To which Augie replied, "Just hit the ball, son."

A.G.- 'I think a bunt will catch them off guard here?'

B.L. - 'seriously coach?

A.G. - 'ok, swing away, but if you get two strikes, look my way for the squeeze.'

B.L. - 'got it'

A.G. 'and son, try to keep it in the park, Wood says he feels good, maybe we can go extras tonight.'

You guys trashing Garrido just puzzle me.

But there were not MB back when Gus and Falk were coaching so I guess you were trashing them for sucking to but it was not recorded here for us all to see.

Oh to go back to those days.

I should have quoted the dude I was responding to. It was only Scharnell and therefore I probably should have only addressed my post to him.

Augie- OK Brandon, Preston and I have money on the over so knock the crap out of it, but keep it in the park. He says he'll do the rest.

Augie probably told Brandon about the same thing as he told Tommy Nicholson a decade or so ago, back just before Tommy drove in the winning run in a game against the Aggies:

"Brandon, you were the best player to ever come out of Rowlett High. I know it. Your teammates know it. Now go out and show the fans."

You know how Augie operates. It's all about positive reinforcement and confidence building. In offensive timeouts several times this weekend, I saw players smiling and laughing with Augie. An amazing guy we have for a head coach . . .
