I think there are plans to redo that whole shopping center, including redoing the Alamo.

It will fail....that location has failed for 30 years. The restaurant across the street (which was Mardi Gras when I live in Austin) has also always been a fail.

I think that the people who owned Midtown Live are going to use some of the money that the City of Austin gave them after the "Burn, Baby, Burn" fiasco to rebuild in that spot. I expect the RG4N folks to embrace them with open arms.

according to the AAS this morning, it will be an upscale sports bar/restaurant called Cover 3.

Awesome I live less than a mile away, I can't wait for the October opening. Found the AAS article and see the owners and backers are long time Austin restaurateurs. This sounds like a win/win situation for the neighborhood..

Sounds interesting.... a sports bar from the guys who founded Eddie Vs and Z Tejas.... not bad.

One of the founders is an old friend of mine. He has high hopes for this restaurant. He's been in the business for a long time and this is his baby.

I think it's a great idea. The management and ownership team knows the Austin market really well and have a proven record of developing successful restaurant business plans-- I think it will be a hit.

They are renovating the whole shopping center. Most of the businesses will remain open during the renovation. I believe that either apartments or condos will be incorporated as well.

Living above a sports bar and next door to an Alamo drafthouse has some appeal. Not to mention Korea House, a handful of coffee shops/bakeries, etc.... This is exactly what that neighborhood needed after the Walmart fiasco....

Yeah, Korea House was actually my first thought when I heard about this. Korea House better survive the "Urban Renewal" or I'll be ticked off!
