Barnes is let go after this season? Not starting a Fire Barnes thread with this. I'm just curious what you all think the real chances are? Will he get a pass because of this youth excuse? What's the vibe on this?
 
Zero. I'm pretty sure the athletic department feels he is the best we can get because "we aren't a basketball school" and "fans don't go to basketball games so we're lucky to have kept him this long".
 
I think Dodds gives Barnes one more year because of all the players he has sent to the NBA. If he doesn't have any players leave early after next season, he's probably gone.
 
You don't think we could get the Butler head coach? I don't know how much he is currently getting paid, but I think UT could probably top his current salary. Hell, screw that if he wants to stay at Butler, UT should just buy Butler.

No.

Right now, Stevens coaches one of the best teams in the country and plays his home games at the fieldhouse that literally coined the term "Hoosier Hysteria." Anyone willing to leave that for cash is a sumbitch.
 
I think if UT was making consistent trips to the elite eight, say 5 out of 7 years, with a couple of trips to the final four in that seven year stretch, that the games consistently would be near sell outs.

Get consistently great teams and the fans would follow, imho.
 
Barnes has a pass for another year minimum.

He knew this season would be ugly, but he won't be losing any players who have significant PT this season. He has never had a full roster return.

Kabongo may have some PT when he returns, but I can't see RB awarding him with big minutes that otherwise would build a better team for next season.
