First, we're treated to a defensive showcase that ends in a 3-1 victory for our beloved 'Horns.
Being shortsighted mortals, we believed that to be a great game. O, what fools were we!
The next evening, we're witnesses to 25 innings of history and a pitcher's duel beyond belief. It was one for the record books, with neither side willing to ask for quarter ... or grant it.
The Eagles are first to blink, surrendering a solitary score after 18 empty innings. But there's no goat to be found; instead, the night's star is an iron man named Wood.
On the heels of such brilliance, one might expect a disappointing denouement. Fool! Not this team, and not this weekend.
Sunday night, we're frustrated by eight-and-one-half innings of lackluster play from our Longhorns. But we don't give up, and neither do they. Down four runs in the bottom of the ninth, the hosts turn their caps backwards and send baseballs skywards.
The result? An eight-run rally capped by a walk-off grand slam, and an appropriate ending to a wonderful weekend.
