What a great win for the Mavs tonight!

It was definitely a gut-check and they passed with flying colors. Josh and JET played their balls off and Dirk with his best 18 pts ever, Kidd with 17 Assists and 11 boards.

But Avery was my MVP as he pushed all the right buttons. Eddie Jones as first off the bench, starting Dirk and sitting in for several short stretches - though surely the doctors were calling the shots. Kept Damp in there getting boards and occasional dunks. AJ kept them running getting fastbreak points.

And what a great deal if this is what keeps the Warriors from making the playoffs.

Yee-haw! Go Mavs!

That post must be a late April Fools Day joke, as I've been assured on this board that Kidd would get completely dominated by Baron Davis and things would be hopeless.

Things are still hopeless...but a good game tonight. I'm a lifelong mavs fan as I've said before but I just don't think this group can do it. We make the playoffs but lose the first round in 5 games. If we go further it would be awesome but Jason Kidd is not the answer. A few good games here and there don't cut it.

You've gotta love Nellie:

"I'm very upset," Golden State coach Don Nelson said after the game. "Avery Johnson had inside information. He used to play for Golden State, and he knew too much about what we were going to do."

Nellie is great. Very classy last night. He knew his team was beat.

One of my top 5 ideal things to do would be to spend a weekend with Nellie and his brother Willie in Hawaii. There'd be a lotta old-man-still-loving-the-60's **** going down.

Yesterday is the exception, except for the fact that Jason Kidd is a superior PG to Baron by every measuring stick except sheer scoring ability.

This is a pretty good read overall. I like the part about the Mavs. People need to calm down a little bit. Its not like they are getting blown out by all these top teams. They are close just not getting the breaks to get the win. Maybe finally getting this first win over a playoff caliber team will right the ship and they will play loose and with confidence now.

I'll take the simplistic approach: whoever wins is best. with their current teams, they're 1-1. Stay tuned, though they probably won't see each other anymore this year. (whew!)

Tonight's game could be a preview of the playoffs. Lakes are 1.5 behind NO and 1.5 ahead of the Utes. Mavs were playing at such a high emotional level vs GS, it's going to be hard for them to sustain that tonight at Staples.
