There seems to be a commonly accepted precept that the democrats are anti-defense and the republicans are pro-defense. I can say that from my almost 20 years experience, that assertion is wrong. I would characterize it more along the lines of democrats are generally stronger supporters of the PEOPLE in the military and republicans are generally stronger supporters of writing big checks to big defense contractors, and of using our military more.
