West, South, and East Houston?

Can anybody familiar with the Houston area compare the Western, Southern and Eastern part of Houston? Sorry if I sound like a broken record (or broken 8 track).

East - no
West - Memorial area is great, as is the Galleria area.
South - what is that... Clear Lake? I guess that's OK but that's not Houston. Southwest Houston? Unless you are part of a gang, I'd pick another part of the city.

East - Eastend is an up and coming neighbor hood just east of downtown. It's a few years before it becomes very hip and desireable place to live. Outside of that the entire area is very industrial, has no attractions or great areas to live.

South - See most of the negatives about the east side. Really no place to live south until you get to Pearland. No kidding!

West - West of downtown you have the Heights, Memorial Park, the Galleria, Memorial Villages... basically everything you want in Houston. There is a reason why 10 West could have 30 lanes and still be backed up. This is where everyone wants to live.

North - Once you leave downtown, don't stop till you hit 1960 or the Woodlands... Honest

Northeast -

Till you hit Kingwood.

Southwest -

Till you hit Sugarland, Ft. Bend county.

What are you looking for specifically? I could tell you great things about Garden Oaks, Oak Forest

and Timbergrove, if your looking for a place to live in Houston.

A friend and I are going to be starting up a business selling business to business and I was just wanted to get oriented to the area as to what each part is like and as well as good places to live (affordable rent of course). The place is huge. I might have to hit up Vince Young's old stomping grounds, no pun intended.

What type of products do you sell? The comments above are geared towards areas to live. If you're looking for info regarding areas for selling, its a different story.

As far as living goes, I don't have much to add to what was posted above, exept that there are some ghetto areas in the SW part (the area around 59 outside the 610 loop) but there are some decent areas along Westheimer where you can get good deals on apartments.
