Trying to remember his name. Cliff, i think.

He would show up at the West Mall once or twice a year in the mid 80's and field theology questions from students. He always had a seemingly thoughtful answer to anything the students would throw at him. He never came off very evangelical, or mean spirited or never asked for money, but he did have a charlatan type bent to him. Thin guy, clean cut, gum chewer, in his 30's.

Anybody remember this guy?

Yo,
Cliff Knechtle is the man's name. I believe that he is still a pastor of a church in CT, and also continues to travel around the country.
What is your definition of 'evangelical'? Cliff is just about the defintion of evangelical in his theology. I would guess you mean he never came off as a prig, with which I would agree.

THEU.. thanks for the last name..

When i say evangelical, i never got the feeling he acted as an evangelist, ie: trying to convert others to Christianity.

He just seemed to enjoy the debate.

Man, I loved some Cliff Knechtle. he would do the west mall for like a week and I always made it. Absolutely he was an evangelist, and a good one.

I don't get it. I thought the internet wasn't invented until the 90s. How was West Mall around in the 80's?

the cool thing about knechtle, i thought, was that if he was stumped, he'd say so. he'd go and research it, bring it back up the next day, and usually had a good answer.
