This was the first time I've voted early -- I'm an "election day voter". But I got concerned that it might keep me from my job too long, so I voted early. It was a little anti-climactic.
It's hard to get motivated for local elections (even though they probably affect our lives more than the presidential election will) because it seems like Austin mindlessly passes every single bonds and proposition that's ever been on the ballot that doesn't have a huge city wide "vote NO" effort launched against it.
Voted Monday morning here in Arlington. Took about 10 minutes. The interesting race here is for State Senate between Wendy Davis and Mark Shelton - lots of negative advertising and junkmailings.
According to the man managing the poll station I was at (Hancock Center in Austin) about 24% of registered voters had already voted in early elections. There is still today's and tomorrow's numbers to be added. Awesome and I hope it means a really high turnout in general come election day.
