And voted on a blank piece of paper! Can someone explain the purpose of having a caucas? Granted It's my first but I got the impression that these are easily corrupted. To be fair, there was a much larger turnout than expected, but I'v never seen anything so unorganized.

Don't know which caucus you went to, but I'm willing to bet if it was that disorganized it was the Democratic caucus....

A caucus is where the guts of the party originate in terms of the people who are selected as delegates at the local level, and the first step in pushing issues that you want the party to put into the platform (and therefore the first point for input into the talking points for the candidates running on a particular party's ticket). It is as honest as the integrity of the people running it. It also is the most suspectible to grass roots organization by a candidate's campaign staff. Think of it as a face to face West Mall discussion/argument/shouting match.

I also went to my first caucus and was not all that impressed. It was pretty disorganized although to be fair the high turnout was partly to blame for that as they ran out of ballots. My congresswoman had to vote on like a gum wrapper

This was in Minnesota.
