they will try to paint him as Bush II (which is false, they have very different backgrounds) because BHO has a record and it is not good at all. So basically BHO will run against "bush 2" and be blaming Bush again.

Perry is a tireless campaigner and loves it. His wife enjoys it as well. The press will like her alot.

Why do people hate him so much? I havent lived in texas for 11 years so I dont know him from adam. Most of this board, 90% of my TEXas Facebook and twitter friends portray him as the antichrist. Since most of the aforementioned people are either UT alums(anti -AG bias) , left of karl marx or both it could be a biased sample.

Just asking as a out of state Libertarian. Is he electable? We really need someone who is Palin/GWB/BAchman proof, so we can send this unmitigated train wreck of a president home before he can finish off the country. Is it that hard to find a well spoken, non elderly, libertarian leaning republican w/ a respectable academic record?

Any kind of weakness, intellectually, will be magnified 100 fold by the press and popular culture. he or she will have to be 3 times as bright and articulate as Barry to equal out the bais. The current president can ummm and err his way through any unscripted dialogue, utter quayle-esque quotes and still be portrayed as a member of mensa. Not so with the republican.

I'd like to have a successful business leader with real charisma and a great vision for the country. I'd also like that person to have some military experience, and no the aggy corps does not count. I'm just afraid that people of that quality generally despise politics. So, we have Rick Perry and Romney to choose from it would seem.

I don't get all the Perry hate either. My parents attend the church that both W attended and Perry attends. He is much more arrogant and showy than Bush ever was/is, and that has rubbed them the wrong way. But by and large, Perry has been a good governor, and anyone who states otherwise either isn't being honest or is a partisan hack.

However, just as with Clinton as Pres in the 90s, it would have been very difficult to be a bad governor in Texas during the era of Bush and Perry. That, combined with his showy douchiness, doesn't get me very excited about his candidacy.

If it came down to Obama and Perry, there's no question that any rational person ought to vote Perry.

His lack of support for Texas teachers has him on my "do not like" list. He stood in our cafeteria and told us to our face he was going to help us and take care of the education problems. FAIL. He is making it worse with allowing the legislation that hit his desk this past session. I won't vote for him, ever.

If it comes down next November to a choice between Obama and Perry, I'll vote for Perry. If it comes down to a choice between Obama and Mickey Mouse, I'll vote for Mickey - he would certainly do no worse than the idoit currently occupying the White House.
