"This Congress and President Obama have shredded the Bill of Rights. We have one last chance to restore the Founding Fathers' bastion against a rogue Central State: the Bill of Rights."

"Everything that Richard Nixon did to me, for which he faced impeachment and prosecution, which led to his resignation, is now legal under the Patriot Act, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)." Daniel Ellsberg. Can Congress legalize tyranny by passing a law that says it can? Can Congress shred the Bill of Rights by passing a law that says it can? Well, Congress has passed such a law, and President Obama--the most effective Trojan Horse president in American history, a plutocrat dressed as a "progressive"-- rushed to sign it on New Years Eve 2011 when nobody was looking.

Apparently, there aren't many Senators that opposed this legislation either. WTF.

Here is the Who's Who of tyranny and freedom in the US Congress: the NDAA votes:

Senate: The 10 Senators who voted "No" on indefinite imprisonment of US citizens without trial:

Sen. Al Franken [D MN] Sen. Dick Durbin [D IL] Sen. Jim DeMint [] Sen. Rand Paul [R, KY]
Sen. Jeff Merkley [D, OR] Sen. Ron Wyden [D, OR] Sen. Mike Lee [R, UT] Sen. Thomas Harkin [D, IA] Sen. Thomas Coburn [R, OK] Sen. Bernard Sanders [I, VT]

All other senators voted "aye" to indefinite imprisonment of Americans without trial.

The House vote was not as lop-sided: The NDAA passed by a vote of 283 to 186, with 14 abstentions. House members voting "Aye": *

House members voting "No" on the NDAA

The following senators authored bills that strip Americans of all rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights:

Joe Lieberman (CT) - Enemy Expatriation Act - A bill that strips US citizens of citizenship rights on any unproven accusation of support for any force hostile to the United States. Passage of this bill will allow any US citizen to be shipped to a foreign military base to be tortured or murdered.

Scott Brown (MA) co-authored Enemy Expatriation Act.

Carl Levin co-authored provisions in the NDAA that allow for the indefinite imprisonment of US citizens without trial, evidence or legal representation.

John McCain (AZ) - co-authored the NDAA provisions cited above. responsible for the extra-legal term, " belligerent" to describe the only qualification for imprisoning any American the president, the CIA or the military choose to imprison.

The expansion of government sucks on so many levels and we elected a president that is a big believer in government. Elections have consequences.

And now you will be called a racist because you going against the all mighty and powerfull Obama.

The lack of outcry is what is truely disturbing....almost like Americans don't care, and probably wont care until it's too late and the SS is marching down the street.

Nobama doesn't have a monopoly on this. Good 'ole Georgey started down this road with the Patriot Act. And now Big Brother can practically tell you when you fart too much! (was it the sauerkraut or beans for dinner?). Truly becoming a fascist republic. How eerily correct Orwell was.

I'd love to vote for Paul but his foreign policy - in his own words - is outright nutty and dangerous. Allowing Iran to get a nuke because we have one is incredibly illogical. I'm not promoting the idea of war all over the World and would love to bring most of our troops home; however, assuming that other countries and cultures operate sensibly and would never adversely effect us because we've turned isolationist is backward - especially given today's globalization.

"Georgey" didn't start us down any path we weren't already on. As with a lot of bad things the government is doing, Bush just went along, unfortunately, as has McCain. Obama, on the other hand, is standing on the accelerator under the guise of "fairness".

Before we nominate Ron Paul for sainthood, he spoke against this bill but when push came to shove he did not vote. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is, if he wanted to be against it then vote against it!

His vote would not have made a difference but he could proudly stand behind his convictions. A "did not vote" is the same game Obama played in the Senate. No **** can stick to you if you refuse to play.

Another rep who did not vote, Michelle Bachman.

How did the house leader vote?

John Boehner was "NA"

The GOP is not exactly inspiring me.

the sacking of the bill of rights has been an ongoing process. The first big attack was the Alien and Sedition act under John Adams, our second president.

Many others have joined in over the years. The SC under Earl Warren did a lot to protect the bill of rights but that has been steadily undone over the last forty years, starting with Tricky Dick and it has gone along unimpeded and even accelerated in the last dozen years.

The government just needs more power, you know?

All centers of power move to increase their ability to define events and when a crisis comes along, the first impulse is to increase the scope of the government's power. The power it had obviously did not suffice to prevent some bad thing from happening, so it needs more.

It is all so clear.

And we have all these bright people from the Ivy League explaining it to us.
