I need to vent. I have been the biggest Weezer fan since the Blue album. But this whole CD is absolutely horrible. Most of the songs of the previous three CDs have been pretty bad but I feel duped by the media into buying Hurley before listening to it. If anyone wants the CD pm me and I will mail it to you.

not sure what happened to them. The first to albums were greatness. Even the 40 or songs that didnt make the albums during those sessions were better than what they put out after that.

The obvious thing that comes to mind is the loss of matt sharp after pinkerton. I know Weezer was anything but a collaborative effort, but we can never be sure how having a dynamic songwriter and frontman like sharp may have driven rivers to create better music through competition or direct inspiration. All i know is the song quality took a nose dive after he left. Its a shame, they were destined for greatness.

I thought the last album was god-awful and had no plans to pick up the new album... thanks for confirming that decision.

I will say one of my favorite shows ever was watching Weezer open for Live at Liberty Lunch... I think that was late '94 or early '95.

I'll disagree. I'm digging some of the new songs. Every once in a while a line will make me wince a little but they are catchy across the board. Raditude was clearly a 'concept' album and had very few highlights but I still find my self singing some of these songs to my self. The comic value of Rivers singing about how he can't stop partying was worth the price of the album.

Before that the first 5 songs of the Red album were fantastic songs.

Following the recoding of malidroit with a new version of songs as they were being produced and tweaked was one of the coolest musical experiences of my life. Admittedly the final sum was not as lofty as the hype up to it but I still sing some of the original versions over the final album cuts. Having spent 60 days or so picking apart each song completely changed how I listen to any song they come out with. Pretty much each note and production effect is a calculated move. Does it end up more poppy than rocky? Yeah. But that is what happens when a guy goes to Harvard to study specifically how to write catchy songs.

I also think that the green Album is just about perfect.

If you haven't listened to the Special Goodness you need to.
