Week 8 Coaches Poll

Interesting. Lack of respect beating mobilehoma last week and a 6 spot jump this week. Maybe a gritty win with the backup QB in shows something. Or the assistants who actually vote just moved us up according to who lost ahead of us. Yep, that's probably it.

Either way....:hookem2:

I bet TexAgs has pants on fire. I don’t even want to go there with the “TU” & “sips” delerium, obsessive-compulsive ranting. I can pretty much envision what those posts look like.

Healthy? I think we'd have a shot with Notre Dame and Michigan. Longer shot with LSU.

I think Bama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia are still too deep for us.

Sounds about right #8. Which one or two of the 1-7 do you think current Texas team beats? LSU, MI and GA are the only 1 loss above Texas.
I'll bite. I say Texas COULD beat any of the top 7 except Bama right now. Nothing any of the other teams have shown leads me to believe otherwise. And, after week 2, most on here would have thought #7 ou would beat us by 4 TDs.

There wasn't really any reason for us to jump OU based on this past week. Pretty obvious they realized after seeing the full poll results from last week that they were collectively dumb for keeping us behind Oklahoma, and adjusted this week accordingly.

AP No. 7, ahead of Georgia

One of my TVs was on ESPN News from early yesterday when I turned it on about ten minutes ago. Happened to have Joey Galloway and Jesse Palmer doing their Top 5. Interesting. They gave a lot of respect to Texas for finding a way to win when Sam went out. Tried to attach a screen shot but it's too large, apparently. Anyway, they both had Texas at #5.

Edit: Figured it out.

Crazy to think we are the only team unbeatened in the B12. Alabama has to go to Death Valley to play LSU & Michigan and Ohio State still have their big rivalry game. They both still have Michigan St on the schedule but Michigan still has Penn St. I think Michigan is going to lose at least one of those 3 up coming games but hey what do I know? Any given Saturday we can lose. There is still a lot of football left but we just need to worry about our game and forget about the polls. Winning will take of the rest.

If Bama loses they drop to 2 and LSU and Georgia willl be top 5 with ND. :whiteflag:

It’s still quite a long shot that we run the rest of the table, but if we do, even if it is ugly in every game, I think the polls would work out fine and leave us in the top four. If we really did look that horrible all along, but won out and came 5th, maybe that wouldn’t be the end of the world.

I would just as soon go 13-1 and beat Penn State in a bowl game than limp into a playoff and have Alabama beat us 55-14 and knock out all our QBs while they are at it.

I’m just saying that if the eye test would give us a decent shot at #1 or #2, I think the polls will give us that shot.

If we run the table (a big “if”) and then beat an 11-1 OU (another big “if”), it might be difficult to keep us out. That would be even more true if OU manhandles their opponents.

The fact that we are even having this conversation is mind boggling, but I’m happy that we are.

And always remember, OU Sux scored 66 on Baylor. No matter your orange glasses that does say something that cannot be ignored. I believe we’re back but we’re not there yet! Hookem

The problem with the LSU Bama game is that if LSU wins, Bama will only drop a few slots. I really don’t want to see two SEC teams in the playoffs.
