Wedding venues in Austin

So, I've gone and done it, asking the girl to marry me. Anyway, we're planning to get married in Austin around Christmas time, and wanted to get any recommendations on venus for the ceremony/reception.

Also, I couldn't remember which was the venue where the guy took out the dog, was that Plantation House? Was going to avoid that one.

Thanks for the help!

Barr Mansion could accommodate that size nicely. They are basically a one-stop shop. You use their food, you CAN use their flowers, and they also have cakes. So, it is easy, but you also have a smaller range of options. It's all organic, natural, etc, and that appeals to some people.
There is also the Allan House, One World Theater, The Oasis (you'd want good weather for that), and Mercury Hall.
There are lots of great places in Austin.

Since you're getting married during Christ's Mass (shortened to Christmas) -
why not try the beautiful Cathedral?

And congrats on the nuptials

i was going to say Umlauf Sculpture Garden but the weather could be dicey around Christmas time.

You just never know. If you had an outdoor wedding and reception this past weekend it would have been perfect. In February!

I started a thread on this a few months back:

A lot of good suggestions there. We went with Vintage Villas as it was exactly what we were looking for; something on the lake that still incorporated that hill country feel and somewhat intimate. Happy hunting.

Our reception was at Green Pastures and it was incredible.

You can have both the ceremony and reception there- I would highly suggest checking it out. Top notch.

We had the our oldest daughter 's reception (and ceremony) at Green Pastures this past December. The grounds and the building were just absolutely beautiful with all of the Xmas decorations.
Food is fabulous. Place settings wait staff etc are provided, too. We did bring in some flower arrangement and table decorations.

We saved a ton (I mean a ton) of money by having the ceremony and reception on a Sunday rather that Friday or Saturday. Just something to think about. It helped my checkbook a lot.
