We Own Texas?

Actually, lately, yes. Football, baseball (can you believe it?) and basketball. So....yeah. Time for us to crush this cockroach of a school, and soon.
 
i thought it was a great chant. it's true and it stings if you are a Texas fan. kinda aggyish, but considering how great Texas has been in athletics over the past decade or so, if I were a fan of a school that had the success against Texas that K-State has had, I would be shouting it as loud as I could as well.

way better than 'overrated' which i still think is the dumbest chant every created.
 
True, but regardless, what happened to the cheers supporting themselves? I never thought i'd ever agree with Bob Knight on anything, but i think he has a good point.

Why do we have such a hard time with this freaking school. i blame the color purple
 
There's no shame in losing this game. K State is a damn good team and we're going to see this type of atmosphere on the road throughout the year. How we lost it sucks (FT shooting, missed lay-ups, etc) - hopefully Barnes can build on this.
 
I do have to congratulate the K-State fans. They were LOUD. I watched the A&M game and our fans weren't near as loud. So much for home court...

How about attending a game in person before calling out the Texas fans. "Fans" like you are what makes the Drum's atmosphere what it is.

Sir, I live in Portland, Oregon. "Fans" like me live in places other than Austin, Texas. Some of us move and continue to cheer for our assorted sports. Believe it or not.

That chant was moronic. They emphasized us and our superiority in their cheers rather than themselves. Dumb, imo. They have won a few games against us in off years and done nothing with that (read titles). That said, I wish the Erwin Center would rock like that place did tonight.
 
Seems like there was a much larger student section in K-State than there is in Erwin. But, that's what you get for selling seats to the highest bidders instead of giving them to students.

It is well known that our home court is not near the atmosphere that it is in other college towns. Don't be so defensive.
 
You could have put that same K-State crowd in the Drum and they would not have sounded the same. If you want TEXAS crowds to sound like that in Austin then move the games to Gregory.

The Drum is a sound sucking ***** from hell of which there is no escape. Just the facts man. I'll tell you what, go to a TEXAS girls volleyball game in Gregory and it will sound just like the crowd in Manhatten. Check it out.
 
I was thinking they were referring to the fact that they just beat the aggies and now beat us, thus ownig the "state" of Texas in the past week, rather than some kind of all time all sports ownage. Maybe I'm wrong.
 
Yes, you are. They were distinctly referring to UT. Nobody gives a **** about A&M.

I agree you shouldn't be calling out the fans that at least attend the game if you never go, regardless of whether you have the capacity to or not. I personally hate most of the UT fans around me because 99% of the time when I'm standing I'm being yelled at to sit down or these idiots or quiet as lambs and don't have anything better to do with their social security checks. But without them, we don't have an athletics program and our seats are empty because few real fans can afford the retarded prices they charge to attend games (season tickets). So I'll say se la vive, at least they pay the bills while you guys across the country do not...
 
Well, they do 'own us' in the 3 men's major sports over the last few years. I don't even want to look up the actual record.

As long as they don't target individual players, I think it is fair game. Let them have their fun.

They have scoreboard bragging rights, but we're still ranked ahead of them in all 3 sports.

I actually don't mind the "horns down" or the "we own Texas" chant, to be honest. First off, it makes them look very aggy-eqsue. But, most importantly, as another poster has mentioned, it only further solidifies the fact that we are the Joneses when it comes to college sports. All of them, not just football, especially in the Big 12. Beating us is a big deal and I sure as hell would prefer that over it not meaning much.
