Herman said the we have called more drop-back passes in the last two weeks than in the previous eight weeks combined.

Our defense has faced 4 of top 12 offenses in country
Gone 2-2

Herman said WR John Burt and DT Jamari Chisholm are both going to redshirt this season.
They will be fifth-year players in 2019.

Burt could play in two more games and Chisholm could play in three more games without losing a season of eligibility thanks to new NCAA rules put in place before this season.

Herman on his defense and playing Big 12 offenses:

“We weren’t going to win the last few games 17-14. That just wasn’t going to happen.”

On if it bothers him Texas has evolved into typical Big 12 team of good offense, suspect defense:

"It doesn't bother me. I like winning. We're gonna win the game the way it needs to be won."

Herman on Hager -

"If you want to look up the definition of passion for your university, passion for your team, passion for your teammates and the people around him, you don't need to look any further than Breckyn Hager."

“He means the world to us. We’re going to be excited to send him off hopefully the right way with a win.”

Herman said the ability of teams to run the football against our dime package has been a huge difference in why things aren’t working they way they should at times.

I think the Texas defense deserves some credit for helping those four teams make the list of the top 12 offenses in college football. After all, we gave up an average of 552 yds of offense against those guys.

I am not sure about draft stock but this is a tough year to stand out as a WR in the Big 12. With Hollywood Brown, CeeDee Lamb, Tylan Wallace, Hakeem Butler, and David Sills as your competition, not to mention the Tech guys who often go overlooked, it is hard to get noticed.

Collin Johnson is not in the top 10 in receiving yards or receiving touchdowns for the conference.

Well, these stats show that we play great offenses, but also (unfortunately) show that we have been rather average (or slightly below average) against them. While we held OU to 45 yards below their average and Okie State to 9 yards below, Tech and WVU beat their averages by around 60 and 80 yards, respectively.

An interesting note (at least to me), I felt watching these games that each of the opponents (except WVU) had one dominant quarter. Looking at the stats, Okie State and Tech definitely did, while OU and WVU more balanced, which surprised me with respect to OU. Assuming my math is right, Okie State had 245 yards in the 1Q (just about 50% of total offense). Tech had a whopping 270 in the 4Q (also close to half of their total yardage). WVU and OU were a bit more balanced, though each had a quarter that accounted for over a third of their total yardage. OU had 181 of their 532 yards in the 4Q. WVU had 194 of their 578 yards in the 1Q. If you normalize Tech and Okie State based on the other 3Qs, you get much different numbers. Okie State would clock in at 333 yards and Tech at 433. (For the sake of completeness, OU would have had 468 total. WVU would have had 512. These are less meaningful differences.)*

Of course, each game is a different animal based on any number of factors BUT the good news to me is that if we could get just a little more consistency from our D over 4Qs or a little improvement overall we will be a very dangerous team with the O that we have. Some other good news is that we have good young talent, and we’ve seen what our D is capable of from last year.

*Again, pretty sure I got the math right, but no guarantees.

In my opinion juniors should never be honored at senior day. Show love in some other way, but anyone who stays 4 or 5 years need to be celebrated in the traditional way and not those who leave early.
I could have no problem honoring the early-departure IF and ONLY IF that departing junior is at mid-field presenting the University with a check to reimburse for services NOT rendered by the scholarship recipient...

If they play 3 years they only get 3 years of scholarship so they did their part. I have no problem with players leaving early, but those who are here for the full ride should get honored differently than those who leave early.

Look for whoever the backup is to have the game if his career, especially in the first half.

Refresh my memory...I don't recall that this ALWAYS holds true at the RB position. Or at least not to the level we always manage to elevate a QB making their first start...
