With Loftin stepping down, there's a real fear (perhaps unfounded, but not impossible) that Perry will take over that position (after all, he appointed all of the regents who will do the hiring).

Heaven help us all.
 
IMO aggy and Perry deserve each other regardless if he becomes CEO of that cow college... I am just praying Perry doesn't run for POTUS and embarass the state again

It is kind of ironic that Perry announces retirement and a week later bowtie steps down. Hummm.......
 
A&M is not a cow college and hasn't been for several decades. They still have an ag department and the vet school but most of the students are not country and most of the majors aren't either.

It is mostly a school of smart kids whose parents did not want them going to a more liberal school.

They are approaching our level in most fields.

THe obsession on their part with tradition is symptomatic of the fact that the culture is changing radically over there and some try to preserve it. '

Forty years ago in law school one of my best friends was an ag and he told me his father went there and wanted him to go and so he did but did not up for rotc or buy into the rest of the cult, which he thought goofy,

HAVE met a lot more like that since then.

LOFTIN would have no shot in a gov race and Perry no interest in a college presidency where he would be under the thumb of a chancellor or a board of regents and riding herd on a faculty that thinks he's an embarrassing neanderthal and would let him know it
 
perry wont be the next A&M president.

if anything, he'll make a run at the chancellor of the system spot once his presidential campaign ends.
