Former Wake Forest Post Tony Woods (6-10 250) is considering transferring to Texas
visiting Austin soon.

We should go after him hard because he's what we need. Two years of eligibility left
and hopeful that he stays for the duration.of his eligibility

Nice find. That guy would make an immediate impact. He's a legit big man and he deserves a 2nd chance. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Would he be able to play immediately since he sat out last year? If so, I don't think there is any question he could come in and start from day 1 at Texas. We are in desperate need of a big body. Even with a year off and being rusty, he would be the best big man we would have on campus.

Woods obtained his release Oct 2010 so essentially he sat out the 2010 season and should be eligible.
Austin would be a great place for him to get away
and turn the page. Small fish in a big pond at Kentucky and too close to home. He would start if he came to Texas. Here's hoping.

The eligibility issue isn't that easy. He's gotta show he passed the appropriate number of hours in JC and that they apply to a UT degree, or graduate from the JC, to be eligible right away.

I have no idea whether he would clear that.

The article says UT would be favored if playing time was the main issue. Apparently it is.
