For those who have been regulars at OU for years, my "girlfriend" Momma Fernie passed this weekend at the age of 95. Fernie owned the Dock Cafe on the Fairgrounds for 50 years and introduced the funnel cake to the State Fair years ago. I had the privilege of having her cell and calling her every now and then while she was in the retirement home on Coit by MedCities. Always the same question, "when are you coming to take me to El Fenix?"
A couple of years ago, Jordan Speith told me if I referred to his "grandmother" as my girlfriend one more time, we were going to have a "Serious problem". (Jordan grew up with Fernie's grandson.)
