We just offered a Freshman OT

Is an offer like this binding in any way for UT? Or is it just like hey we’re interested let’s keep in touch kind of thing?

I know the word “commitment” doesn’t mean anything until they sign. I don’t know about offers though.
 
Dion, I think it's about negative recruiting if you offer, they accept, and then u pull offer. See Bobby Petrino fall out this year with that one kid. School can do it, but at the risk of the fall out ...

I noticed our net is nationwide again. A four star QB form MD and another from FL are on Charlie's radar.

I agree. There were some HS coaches who dissed Charlie this past cycle (some = too many). Let him use his considerable national contacts to snag some more of "his kind of players," watch us get back on top in 2 years, and these bozos will be crawling on their bellies to get his attention.

Not 4 years but 3 :)

And we are actually late in offering him, as he had 16 offers already, including Alabama, FSU, Ohio State. etc. Aggy and TCU also have offered.

The funny thing is that he has already visited almost every university. He came to Texas twice last year. Once in June for our camp and then in October to see a game. He visited Louisville, Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas and OU unofficially during the football season. aggy and others are just offering. Baylor, Ole Miss, Texas and OSU are the 4 camps he did last June. So our offer is actually based on seeing him up close (and I guess the 2014 HS film too), so he may have been waiting for it. But it is all way too early. We will start worrying 2.5 years from now. Tennessee is never an easy opponent in recruiting, to get a guy to go out of their backyard. For guys in 2017 and 2018, our on-field results will matter a lot more. It will matter even for the 2016 guys if we look bad at the end of this year, but we will probably be excused for some early losses because the team is young.

We have quite a few cousins and others in the list actually. Here are some from this year's top targets that I had jotted down at various times:

Xavier Gaines (Florida QB) is Cecil Cherry's cousin.
Darius Anderson is Fozzy's step-brother.
Dee Anderson and Deandre McNeal are cousins
Eric Fowler and Tank Jackson are cousins.
Kam Martin and Jamaal Charles are cousins.

There may be more of them, that I don't know of.
