We have lost another great Longhorn

Few, if any of us, have done as much for our athletic department as Joel did. Joel helped get summer jobs for countless numbers of athletes for so many years. He hosted recruiting meetings at his home, never missed the Longhorn Football breakfast at ROCC, and hosted a Thursday "cuss and discuss" lunch at his grocery store. I true gentleman and great Longhorn, committed to making our university better for all.

Wow-- what an awesome man and an incredibly full life he lived. This part confused me, though. Any idea what it means? Did he adopt Billy?

"Following Tudy's death, Joel's family expanded further. He was blessed with his son Billy, a source of great joy and happiness. Joel then met and married Kay Bergel Bregman, who was the love of the rest of his long life."
