After rolling to his left to escape the rush with a launched helmet.55+ yards.
He will be generating so much camera time 5 Star OL will be banging on Herman's door begging to be offered. Herman will have to be judicious to get the ones who want to dominate every practice and workout and not the ones who want to ride coat tails like the legacy bros.Hopefully some top OL to protect him as well
I hate to have to point it out, but TH is not killing it w/ the 22 class. Sadly, Lincoln is the one killing it, and the pieces are being picked by LSU, Bama and aggy. If TH doesn't get some players for the trenches, Ewers may spend most of his time on his back and the pickings are already getting slim.Dont go calling me any kool-aid drinker. That stuff is bad for you anyway.
No, just going to offer an optimistic, yet realistic, take on state of UT football.
Btw, I had this ready prior to this commitment, but now seems like a good time...
I believe, with a rational look at where we've been and where we are, one would have to say UT is in the best position, football-wise since 2011-2012.
I believe we are a little more maturity on the part of the coach, and some great OLine recruiting and development away from being a perennial top 10 team again and vying for Big12 Championships most years and playing in playoffs with NC opportunities...basically being a big dawg again.
Like Herman or not, he is recruiting lights out (w exception of oline) and we are generally trending upward with tremendous opportunity ahead.
My biggest concern is that his teams play big games well but not all games consistently well.
I'll add one more item in that I fully expect ou to hit a temporary plateau/peak out soon and actually believe they peaked in the last 2 years for this generational cycle - and expect displacement of their dominance in the next 0-3 years.
I dont normally post stuff like this you guys know...but it's in my head, it's in my heart, and...hopefully will soon be manifest on the field and in reality.
We'll see...You guys call me out and hold me accountable for this post...
OL? Don’t make me laugh. We are moving to the 10 yard min offense with 2 QB’s, 3 RB’s/Slot WR’s, 3 WR’s, 2 TE’s and 1 Center.I hate to have to point it out, but TH is not killing it w/ the 22 class. <S/On> Yeah, Herman has only got 2 commits and about 50 guys looking hard. What a slacker!<S/Off>I hate to have to point it out, but TH is not killing it w/ the 22 class.

Riley tweeted a chess piece after Ewers committed to Texas and I’ll tell you that ain’t gonna happen Lincoln move on,
I am embarrassed!
Not one of us knows Milroe. Not one of us knows what our coaches told him during his recruiting. Did one of our guys pull a Sumlin and lie to the kid? I would certainly hope not, but I wasn't there, and neither was any other poster on this board. I have, however, been involved in recruiting in a different generation, when Barry, Jackie, Osborne, Willie, et al were prowling the high schools.
We all watched Kevin Sumlin lose how many highly ranked QBs because he lied to them. I prefer to think that Herman, et al did not tell the kid he was the "only one".
Either way, we are not likely to know. I prefer to think the young man has his reasons other than competition, because I doubt Saban would take him if that was it. I wish he hadn't changed his mind, but he did. I wish him luck and hope we see him in January, 2025.
This^^ Great beef up front on both sides of the ball make life easier for everyone behind them on both sides of the ball.Hopefully some top OL to protect him as well
He is a talented QB, but he is going to be sandwiched between Card/JQJ and Ewers, the chances of him getting the starting job are pretty low here.
Honestly, I think it is less about Ewers committing than it was about coaches and fans forgetting about him because of Ewers committing. Bama has never stopped recruiting him and they are telling him all these great things while we are gushing over Ewers. He probably felt more love from them.
When Chris Simms signed two QBs immediately quit or transferred.
One was Adam Dunn who decided to play baseball. Good choice.
Of course VY has said a large part of his choosing Texas was because of the signing of Simms.
We are fortunate to have QBs falling out of our *** right now.
This is what happens when you recruit as you should.
Always get the best guy you can.
Never promise anybody anything.
Keep the level of competition high.
There will be attrition.
The days of developing a starting QB are basically gone until the NCAA (or whoever takes over Division I college football) reins back the transfer/portal guidelines. Kids will go where they can start, unless their talents (or lack thereof) shine through and they eventually mail it in **cough**Tate Martell**cough**
Remember when aggys thought....![]()
What's funnier is they still think that.Remember when aggys thought Martell was a better QB than Ehlinger.![]()
I don't get the issue with the Portal. Why have a malcontent hanging around for 2 - 3 years? Yes you recruited him, but for whatever reason he isn't happy down the playing order. The Portal is a way to get him out of there to keep locker room issues down and free up a scholarship. The days of developing a starting QB are basically gone until the NCAA (or whoever takes over Division I college football) reins back the transfer/portal guidelines. Oh StMight be a Shock the World announcement on Social Media soon by Dasan McCullough. I do not track Social Media so someone else will have to post it.
If it comes true, Texas might have to go after Jalen again so he can recommit to Texas then transfer again.![]()
Now that is real good to hearMike Roach from the BON podcast --
Ewers called Tim Beck at NC State and asked about the decision to commit to Texas and Beck fully endorsed the program and Herman
