If you are caucasian & find yourself looking for a hotel in Quanah, Tx, don't stay at the Knight's Inn/Quanah Parker Inn. The lady who owns it don't like white people. And that damn Best Western across the street is the devil.
Me & a friend played in a golf tournament there this weekend and had decided we would just spend the night, rather than make the 200 mile round trip twice. I was looking up the Quanah Country Club online and saw a link to lodging & decided to look up what kind of hotels they had (Quanah is very small..maybe 3000 people). When I found out the Best Western was already full, I figured we better snatch up a reservation to be sure we had a place to stay. So I booked a room with a place called the Knight's Inn & printed out my reservation with the confirmation number.
Saturday we show up to check in our room & the Indian lady who owns the joint refused to honor our reservation. She said these websites were screwing her out of her money & they have no authority to collect money on her hotel rooms. So she wanted us to pay her again, even though the website had already deducted the money from my checking account (I used my debit card). After spending about an hour on the phone, getting transferred to about 5 different people (none of whom could help), we were about ready to just give up & try this other roach hotel in town.
Before we could get out the door this Indian lady just went on a rampage. "You damn rich white people always come here to play your damn golf & stay at the Best Western. Thinnk you're too good for our hotel." For the record it was the first (and probably last time) I will ever spend the night in Quanah.
My friend & I just stood there stunned. I wanted to break something before I left, but figured since she had my name & address, that might not be too smart. So I just told her in so many words that if our country is treating her so bad, she ought to just go back to wherever the **** she came from. Then we left.
