We are a horrible TEAM

Very talented, but painfully obvious that we are nowhere near a top 25 team. We will be lucky to make the tourney, and absolutely blessed to get a win. Kansas is night and day dierent than Texas is physically and mentally. Our game is weak.

I'm less upset with this loss than lossing to BU and OU. Bottom line is Kansas is ranked #1. May not be the best at then end but best of the Big 12. At least we can't blame free throws tonight.

The only overstated part is that we don't belong in the top 25. I doubt we can win a tournament game at this point.

... and the strength of our top 25 resume lies in the first part of the season when we were a completely different team.

Honestly, when you look at our record and performance over the last 7 games, I don't think we are a top twenty-five team.

We have a realistic shot at not making the tournament. If we only wein 7 confernece games and lose early in the conference tournament we could be on the outside looking in. THe way we seem to play just bad enough to fall behind by 10 to any opponent scares me. Should be an interesting end to the season.

How can we play so poorly with the so-called "talent" that we have on this team (in the mind of the experts)?

Is it possible all the ESPN analyist are seeing something we are not? Maybe Barnes should watch the espn replay and listen to Bobby Knight.

Part of coaching is to make your team mentally tough. This team is made up of mental midgets. It stems from negative reinforcements.

It was certainly a contrast in style tonight. KU kept the ball
moving, kept driving to the lane, kicked out to good shots,
while we parked four on the perimeter and ran a play about
every sixth time down the court.
On a different but related subject, Barnes has started blaming
the players -- was quoted as saying that he and the staff
have done all they could to rectify the foul shooting and
nothing seems to work. And that they don't move enough,
and take shots too quickly. Hmm, perhaps he's taking a clue
from obama --- blame everybody except himself. Last I
checked he is in charge but forgets where the buck stops.

TexasGolf has a point. 4 of the last 6 are on the road as well. I doubt 7-9 in conference gets us in the tourney. So 8-8 is a must. Looking at probably an 8 or 9 seed which means one and done at best. I am holding out hope for a return to solid play but I just don't see it coming from what Barnes is saying in interviews. Simply amazing. Completely frustrating.

Currently at 5-4 in the Conference, here's what is left (and my prediction):
Nebraska . . . W
@ Mizzou . . . . L
@ Tech . . . . . W
OSU . . . . . . W
@ aTm . . . . . L
OU . . . . . . . . W
@ BU . . . . . . L

9-7. 6 or 7 seed in the tourney and bounced in either the first or second round.

This team somewhat reminds me of the 1980-81 team with LaSalle Thompson and Mike Wacker. For awhile, it seemed like they would never lose. Later it seemed like they would never win another game.

Of course, this team did not lose Wacker or his equivalent. And the coach is not as funny. Or caustic for that matter.

You've got a 20 point win coming on Saturday, at least.

While I'm not predicting it......I wonder what a dominant win on Saturday would do for these guys. Would it stem the "suck" and get them on track...?

We followed up a 12-point road win in Stillwater by laying our biggest egg of the year. It is going to take a lot more than a home win over the worst team in the Conference to get this team back on track.

Steven A Smith, whom I loathe, called out Texas on his radio show yesterday. Smith said Texas was not at all focussed, suggested the honeys on 6th street were a distraction after we achieved the number one ranking. Said we had way too much talent to be housed at home by Kansas.

This is all playing out like the football game we lost to UCLA 66-3 in our home stadium, except it is taking weeks in slow motion to suffer.

I have always been a Rick Barnes supporter, but this run is going to hurt him more than people realize. With our preseason expectations, and then the 17 game winning streak, the audience for this collapse has been multiple times the size of all the various ups and downs the team has had over the past 10 years.

I hate to be negative, but the very way we play and the way we have lost these games makes me outright angry at the program. I'm just being honest, and I think I am not alone. Even if that isn't fair....

I will have to say that I have really learned to like and respect Damion James as much as any player we've ever had. Good job, big fellow!
