I went 2 years in a row when the tourney was in Dallas. We won one year beating Tech and lost the next year against OU.
As a fan, I had a gret time as the weather was great and Texas was good in both men's and women's hoops.
We are one of the very few conferences where both men's and women's tourneys are held concurrently in the same city. In fact, most women's tourneys finish a whole week prior to ours; that allows other conferences to rest up a bit and prepare for the NCAA tourney.
In order for Dallas to ever host the Big 12 tourney (men's or women's), they need to be held on different weeks as Dallas no longer has two basketball arenas (Reunion Arena has been levelled, I believe). So, as a fan who would like to drive to the games, the only real option to have either tourney in Texas is to split the men's and women's tourneys.
Since it sounds like we are pulling the tourneys out of Kansas City, my guess is the Oklahoma City benefits the most if folks want both tourneys in the same city during the same week.
