Way to go Butler

Could be the best underdog story of the modern era... If they could win one it would be "Hoosier II" at the highest level... Maybe more like Rocky, where the little guy wins on the second try. I can here the music now...

Butler will be the underdog in the final, but I won't be surprised if they win it all. I don't really even consider them a Cinderella story after back to back final fours. They are a very good team.

Only the 8th team to go back to back since UCLA's run of 7 strait. (Before that, there were a bunch o back to back appearances.)

Others: NC, Hou, GT, Ark, KY (3x), Duke (3x), FL

Not bad company.

not to overstate our importance and stature in college basketball, but does anyone find it disturbing that 2 mid-majors (VCU and Butler) would kill us in a head-to-head match up?

The Butler coach has only been coaching since 2000. Prior to that he was in corporate business. Amazing how he can coach players to both think and execute with the skill of top athletes -- and in the most pressured situations, at any moment in the game. Whether on a mid-game run to gain or establish a lead, or in the final minutes. His players never seem rattled or lost or confused. Good show.

I'll be pulling for Butler to win it. Should be a good game.

I don't find it disturbing at all. Talent is very important but so is chemistry and teamwork, no team does that better last 2 years than Butler. I am pulling for Butler but you have to watch out for Kimba Walker.

I too think we could hang with this Butler team, but sadly I also believe that their coaching would give them an advantage.

texas by 10 or more. sorry.

The upside is that, were Texas playing like they were during that one brutal 5-game stretch midway through the year, they'd have spanked both Uconn and UK. Those teams played awful, awful ball in the semifinals.

I don't think that happens. They both got on a good roll, but there is a reason they both got seeded where they were.

Butler lost to such notables as Evansville, Wright State, Valpo, and Milwaukee (losing to them twice, including one 24 point loss).

VCU had losses to S. Florida, Richmond, UAB, Georgia State, Old Dominion, Northeastern, Drexel, and James Madison.

If anything, their seasons reflect the issues with only judging seasons by how a team does in a one-and-done tournament.

Now, that's not to take anything away from them. What Butler has done --- to be able to find a way to consistently finish out the close games the last two years --- is amazing.

But I don't think Texas gets blown out by either (and probably wins a best of 5 tyope series against both).

Regardless of how this final turns out, I cannot overstate how impressed I am with Brad Stevens coaching and the manner in which he presents himself.

Credit to UConn's defense, but I don't believe i have ever seen a team as cold as Butler is tonight. 15% for the game? Wow.

I can't recall any game at any level in which a team shot this poorly. I remember a rec league game when I was in 6th grade when we lost 48-12, and I think we still shot better.

What an ugly championship game, I think the womens game will be much better. This was hard to watch by both teams

For Butler to make it to championship game 2 years in a row with a school of 4,600 is still amazing to me.

Probably the only championship game in history where the final score was exactly equivalent to the final rebound tally.
