Washing machine: Repair or get a new one?

We have a washing machine that's about 6 years old. It had to be repaired earlier this spring, at it was about 200 bucks. Now it needs repair again, and it looks like it's going to cost another 125 bucks, (we already paid 65 to have the repair guy come look at it.)

I'm not sure if I want to keep putting money in the washer that might not last long, but might be fine.

Anyone have any advice?

If the washing machine is a basic one (ie. non-front loading), you could buy a new one for not much more than you've been spending on repairs. Washers have lots of moving parts and tend to not last as long as dryers.

I just went through a similar situation. We had an older front loader that vibrated like crazy, was loud and starting to leak. Our laundry room is upstairs so I opted to get a new one instead of dealing with the old one.

Bought a samsung that will be delivered next week. It was amazingly quiet/still when demo'd at the store.

It's a Kenmore. But it's been moved to 4 times and we've had it about 8 years, not 6. The reason we're getting it fixed this time is because one of the support struts for tub broke in the lat move. The repair guy said he's never had to replace one of those before. Leave it to us...
