Washer Drier Recommendations?

I had the Maytag Neptune front loaders from 2000-2005 and they were terrible. The washer made the entire area around the laundry room smell like mildew. We sold them and bought the LG Tromm front loaders and they were alright for a couple of years and then the washer started smelling of mildew and it will not rinse bleach out completely. I have ruined so many clothes by washing them after I do whites because it leaves residual bleach behind.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a washer and drier that work extremely well? I don't mind spending $$$ for something that will work right and last a long time.

I appreciate it!

I think you are supposed to leave the door cracked on the washer when not in use so the water can evaporate and air can circulate to avoid the mildew.

We have had out Whirlpool Duet for 5-6 years now and only get the mildew smell if someone leaves damp clothes in it too long.

Front loading washer is one item I recommend getting the extended warranty plan on. I think I paid $120 and after 3 years the whole control panel/computer thing had to be replaced and the part alone was $500.

I've had Kenmore front loaders for many years and have never had any problems. I had not heard about leaving the door of the washer open to dry it between washes but it makes sense unless it makes the rubber seals more brittle. I haven't noticed any mildew but then I can't smell worth a hoot, which often comes in handy.

I had a kenmore for years with no problems until it went with the wife. I have a samsung now and it is great. I do leave the door cracked and give the door hinges and seal a shot of silicone every few months.
