Starting a thread just on this subject, the Egyptian military influence in the overthrow of the Morsi government. Was it a coup or not?
What should the US government call it and why?

I think it was a coup and they should call it that even if it means a temporary suspension of payments to Eqypt. Once a legit government is back in place then they can resume the payments if it is warranted. Seems pretty easy to me.
I'd rather the Executive branch follow the law and not pick and choose when they want to enforce it.
